I'ts really hard not to get depressed when looking at all the really good artists compared to yourself.

>> No.3366292

those really good artists thought the exact same when they were beginners
what made them really good is that they kept going, knowing, logically, they could only get better

give yourself a break, take a breather, and get back to practicing Anon

To be honest, I get inspired and motivated it makes me want to practice more. Unfortunately it doesn't last long and procrastination eventually takes hold of me.

>> No.3366294

I know this feel. Nothing kills my motivation like success of someone else.

It will always be like this, anon, there will always be artists far better than you. Your only salvation is to buckle down and find enjoyment in the process of drawing.

It's okay OP that's normal. Take break go play a game or something to get the creative fire burning again then come back to drawing.

You shouldn't compare yourself to others.

Instead, have a folder where you put daily 1hr sketches and studies. Then, after a year, look at your progress. That's how you grow. Hard work and focus.

i get depressed when I think about how much I've squandered my talent because I was too busy paying attention to other people's success and trying to get people to like me.

I know. But that's the feeling that keeps me going.

>> No.3366541

Its probably not very healthy but whenever I'm in a heavy slump for that reason I think: "RIGHT now, that person is drawing and posting. And I absolutely cannot let them think they've beaten me". Even if, in reality, they very likely don't think of me at all and have no idea who I am.

You can't squander something you never had to begin with

>> No.3366580

You can be the very best version of yourself and push your art as far as you could do but you might never be the right person at the right place at the right time.

It's a matter of being prepared to take an opportunity when it passes by you. Plenty of competent people. What can you offer that is different?
