Instead of focussing 100% on fundamentals the artist has focussed on creating an appealing style
he way the eyes are drawn, the hair, way the skin is rendered, the colour palette used. All these things mask his anatomy flaws. They give his art a recognizable look, that's his brand.
Style is another fundamental just like anatomy and colour, if you neglect to study it and develp an appealing style your art will be shit

Either school (..kinda) or good online courses honestly. The left was done 3 years ago but really up until I started classed I couldn't do much better than it.
I say kinda because 99/100 physical art schools are gonna teach you fuck all and it's not easy to find the good ones.
Being self taught can work but most people don't have the drive and learning ability that it takes to get there. You really do need to work more than a couple of hours a day and think a lot about what you're doing.

That's where you're wrong. Most people need to meet the equivalent of a 5 day 9-5 in work hours, which can be cut down to 3 days a week. Nobody needs to spend more than a couple hours preparing food for themselves for the week. You don't need to eat everything that you cook in one day

On a workday, "sleep" 8 hours and work 8 hours, that leaves 8 hours of time. Shaving off 3 hours for drawing leaves 5 to do what needs to be done and find time with the family.

When I get off of work I have a solid hour to get some drawing in before having to pick up the kids from school. Get home, give them a snack because school lunches haven't gotten any better since I was a kid. While stuffing faces is going on is prime time to do stuff around the house.

What I learned over the years is women over-exaggerated household chores. Doing them when they're not around keeps them from looking bad and avoiding time wasting nagging for being lazy. Instead getting kudos. I grill often in the warmer months to reduce time spent cooking as well as dishes used.

After I get a feel for everyone's plans for the evening I'll either spend time with everyone, or if they all fuck off to do their own thing I'll start drawing. Getting 2 additional hours isn't a big deal, especially later at night everyone's bedding down.

I don't go out unless it's with the family, I don't play much games anymore, I stick to watching only tv that I really like and draw half the time while watching. I sacrifice a lot of personal interests to make this one happen.

Since there's 16 hours of free awake time on the weekend, using 6 for drawing leave 10 hours for everything else. I also wake up 3-4 hours before everyone else in the house on the weekend

Here are a couple of advises I learned throughout the years:

1- Work slowly through layers and layers of graphite, start soft and and build darker values with each pass. I takes time, at the end it's like you redrew the same piece at least seven times.
2- Make each stroke follow the form
3- Have at least one pencil that can make real blacks, or close to them. You don't need to have a lot of pencils, but there needs to be a wide range beetween you hardest and softest pencils. Also, buy one of those paper pencils that are used for blending and an that play-doh like eraser.
4- Adjust the local values of each object on the drawing with photoshop, because scanners kill a lot of the already weak contrast of graphite.
5-Study light and shadow, obviously. Scott Robertson really helped me with that.

I have an insane speed, reflexes similar to my speed. I just have to wait for you to charge me, dodge your attacks, and throw good punches to your head. I won't stop, and at the smallest mistake you do, you're finished. You'll always have virgins from /ic/ thinking that it's impossible. First, nothing is impossible with will, my friends, and 2) that's not with your weak ass bodies that you'll do anything.
Any man with a minimum of training can beat a random from /ic/ with a knife anyway. With bare hands, that is not necessarily more complicated, it just requires technical skills.

probably majoritavely photos? I do a lot of coffee shop people doodles and done a few life drawing classes, but not enough for sure
I try to use sketchy styles or painterly styles when working on anatomy etc but thick bold lines is definitely a conscious choice I've taken over the years that I enjoy in my art, although I now apply colour and shade my lines more

can someone redpill me on this ridiculous Schiele-finger meme? Why the fuck would ANYONE assume that uncomfortable, unnatural finger position at all?

It's the "show off that you can draw hands regardless of the fucktard position they're in" mentality. I agree. If you know how to draw hands no need to be so insecure that you need to put them in a retardedly complicated position every time. That's the problem with learning to draw from photos of people instead of live figure drawing. You never learn the limitations of poses and what actual normal people find comfortable as a pose

I don't get how this can be turned into a show of skill as well as how the Schiele-fingers came to be a meme to begin with. It's completely ridiculous. People aren't even trying to emulate Schiele's style, only the fucking fingers that he purposefully also held that way when he posed for photos. Not sure if any other artist has done the same thing or if it really comes from Schiele alone. But regardless, it's retarded as fuck. Just try it yourself, rest your fingers on your leg like that - it's stupid, unnatural, weird.

It's just what illustrators do. They show off. Look up Picasso's etchings. When you've done enough drawing from life you realize how limited poses actually are. The Sistine chapel probably has about 5 different poses altogether. You just have to draw actual models enough to know how much strain OP's picture would actually put on a models fingers. I could hold my fingers like that for maybe 3 minutes

which is probably why i don't get it. i don't construct at all, i mostly and at the moment exclusively work from life. but come to think of it, even my preliminary sketches for model shots aren't as retarded as Schiele-finger waifu crap usually gets.
