Meanwhile, on /i/...

>Everyone's drawing and posting their work
>Words of encouragement are constantly posted
>The ambiance is cheerful and easy going
>Ideas are exchanged and Original Characters are born
>Drawing is encouraged
>Positive remarks about other artists is common
>Group think tanks constantly seen in action addressing questions or concerns
>Collage threads in great numbers

Gentlemen, how do we fix /i/?

wait a minute, I think you are trying to say something different than complaining about /i/

/I/ is full of people making art but don't think about it.
/Ic/ is full of people more focused on "thinking about art" than making art.

>> No.3342947

ic is the philosophy and science of art.

/i/ isn't populated with crabs.
They're clearly ngmi, but that's not their goal. They just want to enjoy the process of creating and drawing.
Meanwhile, on /ic/, it's the complete opposite of how you described /i/.

Just leave them be and let them enjoy their hobby. I don't want them to turn bitter and hateful.

This, they're just kids and girls drawing for fun. Visit a kindergarten arts and craft class and see how many people are mired in self loathing at the limitations of their artistic abilities.

Self reflection is necessary for improvement, but it involves stoicism and persistence in the face of uncertainty. Anybody can grab a pen and doodle garbage, but those here are painfully aware of how unsatisfying such cursory efforts can be.

You're right in general, but /ic/ doesn't embody this at all.
/ic/'s general mindset is incredibly far from stoic. If you were to create a 'representative' person who embodies the average type of /ic/ post he'd be bitter and angry, have low self esteem (bordering on self hate), he'd lash out at others, be envious and vindictive and take pleasure in making people miserable. He's a highschool bully who tries to make people feel small so he can feel big, and he rationalizes it by saying he's 'toughening them up'. Obviously this isn't every poster here, but it's a disturbing average. As for persistence, half of this board's posts tend to revolve around people saying they're giving up or telling others to give up.

This. Serious art doesn't need to be serious misery. /ic/ would be a wonderful place if all of those people that do nothing but spread gossip, complain, try and bring others down and derail threads over rules real or imagined finally gassed themselves*

*in the form of taking on more positive behaviors like fucking drawing or leaving the goddamn art board to the people that do

Weeabos are docile creatures because they burned off their testosterone with submissive Platonic love for waifu, and behaving like kawaii children online.
Go research it, it's fucking science.

Case in point - edgy. When anything that isn't bitter shitposting is 'tumblrite' then tumblr becomes a better place than this fucking board. And no, I'm not going to 'fuck off to tumblr' so you can be king of the shitheap, I'm just going to try to be a little less useless of a useless shit-flinger than you are on this board.

The worst thing about /ic/ is the lack of critique for WIPs. Nobody wants to comment on something unless it's finished or 95% finished and it has to be already really good. What the hell is the point of critique at that point? Nobody ever points out flaws at the developmental stage where you actually need them and can fix them.

>> No.3348075

>>3348071
Because most critics on ic are /beg/, who from inexperience, lack the ability to visualize and predict the direction the sketch is going for

>> No.3348090

>>3348075
That's not it. It's because everybody comes here to either shitpost or circlejerk. That's why the people who get the most critiques are people who either don't need it or consistently ignore it.
