I get a lot of Edvard Munch comparisons. Which is pretty cool. He was a raging alcoholic and I was a raging alcoholic so it works out.

Got one to something called ''evil cave'' or some such - which to this day was probably one of the more spot on comparisons. Except my work is way more color heavy.

They did tend to be older, and this was about ten years ago. I used to draw a lot of anthro art too, so I guess that's where the comparison came from.

I too am put off by the mixture of eroticism and sentimentality that characterizes the "Furry community." It's why I never got really into that fandom in spite of drawing tons of anthro art for a good chunk of my career.

These are some of the guys I follow. There's a decent amount of non-pornographic furry artists on FA but it takes some time to find them. Usually if you find one you can go through their 'Favorites' tab to find others.

I usually take this as a compliment, especially now that i'm not in a smug (non-art) teacher/smug parent environment anymore and people make pretty on point comparisons usually.

But, at the same time, it's always ignorant and redundant when the person obviously doesn't know what they're talking about at all.
I come from assfuck nowhere where anime never took off at that point, and i was a huge weeaboo.
I kept getting the "this is just like tim burton!", when all i had in common *at most* was the figures being very skinny.

But they're still diving ass first into a conversation on a topic they know nothing about, with no intention of learning anything, it's just a waste of time stopping drawing to listen to them.
