he didn't say this place is shit (even though it is outside of the artbook threads) he just said it wasn't a good place for critique because you don't have interaction with industry pros.

sinix started out on the conceptart.org forums, where you could post your stuff and pros would swing by, crit your work, and then point you in a different direction. in comparison, a lot of the critique on /ic/ is not very helpful. just telling someone to study anatomy doesn't really address issues in someone's art, but telling someone the perspective of the pelvis is wrong or something and actually giving critique that's specific can be helpful. also /ic/ is negative for basically no reason even outside of the usual shitposting, which is a really bad mindset so there's never going to be any useful discussion on here. it's a fun place to shitpost, but if you want to discuss anything art related and want helpful critique, it's better to go elsewhere.

there's a few in the big sticky in the OP of every /beg/ thread. /LAS/ also has their own discord. if you don't fit in for any of em, you can always ask around for other discords and people will probably give you an invite to one that best meets your requirements.

The foundation is right, generals make this place much more useful than, say, LevelUp or dA.
What about IDs? They only bind you temporarily, so it would be like giving up anonymity - but not really. It could be worth a shot, a few months to see if shitposting goes down.

Even when people do take the time to give legit critique and advice, you never know when you're going to run into someone who doesn't want to hear it. Those anons who have a mile long list of why all the mistakes you pointed out were "intentional" or who don't want to hear they need to get better at this to pull off that. Then there's the critique critiquers who step in and undermine good advice and lump it in with crab crits. With so much negativity on all sides it's no wonder well articulated and meaningful critique is rare.
