Thanks for the crits, I think I'lI call this done.
Dunno, looks kind of bland, I must've lost some of the gesture when shuffling all the parts around..

Also first time OP pic, thanks guys. You're the worst and I love you all.

>>3245737
It's okay anon, that's normal. What's important is that you enjoyed the process - fall in love with it, that's the only part that you can't learn from books.
What the other anon says is true, you might like 1 in 10 or even 1 in 20, but understand that the ones you don't like are necessary to appreciate the little gems by contrast.
Enjoy the process, that's the key.

>>3246011
The linework is really tight, but the drawing itself feels a little awkward, maybe before you do the actual thing, try a little thumbnail to figure out what goes where.
In a small format, all the detail vanishes and you'll easily notice what's important - the S curve in her pose, the weight on her hip, the negative spaces that make her silhouette read. Then it's easy to exaggerate those features and keep them in mind.

>> No.3246046

>>3246039

I thumbnailed it before I went in, but I'm honestly just bad with the human body and posing in general. It's better now than it used to be, but progress is slow.

I enjoy doing the machine aspects of them more than the person, things like turrets and anti-aircraft guns come naturally to me, hips do not.

3246057

>>3246046
I see.
The viewer is actually very little concerned about whether they're looking at a hip or a gun turret, they just care about whether it's an appealing, readable shape and whether it benefits or throws off your overall composition.

Here's an example of what I meant, the thing is like 250px wide, but I can already plan ahead, where is the tension, where is a stretch, what shape would be the most appealing for the raised leg, for example. I can make changes without any commitment.

A god-tier advice I once received was that the drawing process is broken into several stages, each being less important than the one before.
That means the least important are details, while the most important is the first idea, the big composition.

>>3245790
I'll break it down into two factors for you, one is physical and one is mental.
First you have to train your muscles to do what you expect of them, that involves confidence and line quality exercises (Dynamic sketching, Scott Robertson or some book on industrial design sketching)
Then there's a change from drawing lines on flat paper to using lines to pull form out of the paper, as if it was a 3D space - it's a change in your way of thinking.
Put down a couple circles and draw lines over them as if they were spheres, be very focused and try to feel the surface curving under the tip of your pencil.

I'm not super great, so take this with a grain of salt.

If you cover the hips downward, it doesn't look half bad, maybe a bit static like you said, but there's something funky going on with the lower half-- Something with how you constructed it compared to the upper half of the body.

I'm bad at explaining things, so I sketched over it to try and show how I would have done it, maybe this'll help more.

You'd have a much easier time adjusting lineweight if you used a partially opaque brush, but that'd change the way the lines looked.
If you're gonna keep using a solid pen tool, I don't think there's a way around it other than exaggerating. Your thick lines become extra thicc and your thin lines become open.

Fair enough, but purple shadows go with yellow light, not green/cyan. The shifts are not this dramatic, especially on human skin - it's partially translucent, which lights up all the shadows, i.e. the changes will be very subtle.
Look at art of Incase, dude leaves the skin almost uniform value and it looks fantastic.

That being said, what you're doing is correct - experimenting, trying things out. Just be sure to come back to real life to check your work, fantasy settings can only sell crazy stuff 'cause at least the physics are based in this world, which makes it believable.

First redraw that supermario cap, make a proper police cap. Try to centre the tie, I made the hands smaller just for some cosmetic adjudment, they aren´t too much big but big hands are more a masculine thing in my mind.
The articulations are well placed but work a little more on them. Add a litlle more muscle in her back and weight on those tits, look very abnormal.
That hair must have a regular lenght and work on a simple shape, then add the curls. And you can improve that ear.

I thought because I was available to draw realistic faces I could draw anime easily. well I had a hard time with the anime proportions.
The girls didn't look cute! Is this normal for someone used to realistic?

/ic/ would probably be a bit better of a place if we actually tried to help each other instead of tearing down people who are actually trying to give advice to learning artists, even if they're unskilled themselves. It would be a lot more productive for everyone if we tried to correct bad advice and redlines to help the OP.

With that out of the way, here's my shitty redline. Your lack of anatomical knowledge really shows in the arms. I think it would be helpful for you to do more figure studies, as they can help you more accurately understand the broad, simple shapes that make up the body.
Additionally, the feet seem rather stiff and flat. The feet can be very expressive body parts, but the way you drew them they seem rather blocky, some feet studies could help you.

How anime studies work?
Is like normal fundís?
Do I just copy someone else work?
As I said I can draw face from imagination, I can copy using block in, not like a pro but works,I if I have the references I can render faces from imagination. I try anime drawing one a month and is really hard lol. But after many attempts I make one or two anime drawings.
I get frustrated sometimes, I won’t lie.
I think I don’t know how to simplify like anime.

I literally just do studies of pics that I like and try to connect them to what I've learned from drawing from reality.

For me, my biggest weakness is head shape, so I try to see how others do it and go from there.

It's definitely not the most straightforward process, but it gets results.

Honestly you just need a little brushing up on proportions and foreshortening and you'd be pro tier in terms of drawing drawing. Keep at it man, the only thing I might recommend is to switch to Photoshop, Sai V2, or Clip Studio Paint to color your stuff.

I guess cyclops facial structure works differently, but usually when depicting madness, the lower eyelid is pushed up since the person has a crazed smile. Do cyclopses have eyebrows? At the very least, you can try making the brow ridge pushed up as long as it doesn't look too out of place.

Very well done.

Do you even like anime? Do you enjoy it?

I mean, its not different from attempting to draw certain cartoons in-model, just need to break down components of artist you are studying aesthetic choices. Like when you analyses how someone handles value , hues and composition.

Although I think the first thing is that you enjoy look at it and enjoying drawing it. You don't have to force yourself if you don't want.

The breasts, and the way they are held, are well done. The head and the figure, from the bottom of the rib cage up, are in perspective.

Beyond that, there are several glaring problems.

The expression and the pose work very well, but from the awkward shoulder anatomy, followed by the thighs being almost as large as her upper half, throws the tiny waist appeal of stylized characters way off into an unappealing silliness.

Remember, for a 7 1/2 heads figure, the knees lie halfway past the fifth head.

Anime drawing is not my goal but sometimes, I just want to try and see what happens.
I practice my fundís and then I try a free style or anime. I just enjoy to test stuff.

Here is a pic of a different approach to stylization from a month ago.
you don’t know how many times a tried different lines, the noise, the eyes. It just I didn’t know how to simplify to a anime looking.

Just the face, the shoulders and neck are out of place it doesn’t means is catastrophic. Normal viewer can see that.
The hair has too many lines.
It will look better with more dynamic lines and clean lines , “your style”.

After fixing that, it will be ready to clean it. Making a second layer using confident lines with character.

By the way I like the body ;) hehe.

First of all.
Get out of this thread, this thread isn't really for beginners go back to beg but I'll answer your question anyway. Her face looks like it's glued onto her neck the anatomy is fine but it looks shitter because of your lines and colouring. I don't use digital so I'm not sure what you can do to fix that but when I use watercolour I build up my colours in layers and finish any details with coloured pencil, I make sure not to use direct colours. Example you only used purple for this, when in reality they'd be all different tones and shade of purple, blue, pink, red ect. Also the proportions in the face look wack, the nose and mouth are too squished together, I'd put the nose a bit higher and keep the mouth where it is. I will say the hands are okay and do the job at conveying hands, you don't need to go into too much details in this pose and size when it comes to hands. Leave it simple and anatomically correct, but for more close up shots of hands you'd obviously put in more detail. Hope my advice helped and I suggest you stay in the beg threads for now before coming into these threads.
