i did. but i think its a pretty fucking faggot move for a popular artist, to follow me, and get a very new artist (me) with a small fanbase hopes up and feel accompolished for getting someone popular to follow them, only for it to turn out they were just doing it to advertise their name or some shit.

Don't take it personal I guess. If you are an unknown artist, then the popular artist must be doing this to hundreds if not thousands of people and isn't even thinking about it at this point. Just part of their marketing game. I hate that shit too, but I wouldn't take it personal.

Try third party apps like manageflitter. Makes it easy to see who doesn't follow you back, as well as identify potential bots/spam accounts.

No idea why you think its a social game, its just for getting a notification an artist you like uploading content faster. No content, no purpose.
