What books would you recommend that help to gain a good understanding of form?

I've read a lot of anatomy books but none of them really teach me how to understand or draw the muscles or the body in 3D.
I'm looking for something like pic related but maybe a little more in depth/detailed.

Any advice/recommendations would be helpful.

or even like this. Showing the individual 'chunks' so to speak that can be built up to make body parts an limbs.

Something akin to what they did in imagine fx issue 2. They pretty much only did the breakdown for the leg and then "draw the owl" for the rest of the body parts.

I think this is called mannequinization. Proko mentions it in his videos. But i have not been able to find anything on that that wasn't kind of crappy.
The best thing i've found was

Try drawing the form without the outline and just by drawing the cross contour lines.

You really need to pair his book with his videos.

You are going about it all wrong. An anatomy book teaches you anatomy. You look in the book and go "Oh so that's what the body looks like". Then you proceed to draw it.

"How to draw the human body in 3D". What's next? "How to draw cats in 3D"? Just go on and on like that? Completely wrong!
It should be "How to draw 3D" followed by "what does the body actually look like?", "what do cats look like?" and so on. The 3D illusion is the same no matter what you draw.
So the reason why anatomy books don't teach you how to draw the body in 3D is because drawing 3D is something you should know prior to opening an anatomy book.

"The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley.
You need to experience the forms, become the forms, and cease to be the forms. It's not about breaking down forms into 3d primitives, but breaking yourself down into primative 3d forms. You can't learn to feel, but you should feel to learn.

Would you guys say burne hogarth's dynamic anatomy accomplishes this well? he doesn't seem to focus alot on the anatomy despite the name and more so on construction of the various body parts and forms, sometimes breaking them down into simpler shapes. The only thing I dont like about his work is just how "dynamic" his anatomy is. it's too stylised.

I 2nd Hampton, you should definitely download it.

I found Hamptons book+my anatomy book to be pretty sufficient.

Drawing poses from imagination->see how close your construction is to hamptons->learn how flesh will look on top of the form through my anatomy book.

rinse and repeat.

That 'force' book was pretty good to show how muscles stretch through movement

Michael Hampton's book goes in depth, the problem is that you think of it as a tutorial when really it's a collection of tips and tricks that only help people who already know figure drawing to see it in a fresh way.
It's like that video on drawing hands by Steve Huston on Proko's channel, he doesn't waste time by going over anatomy and basic stuff, but jumps straight into advanced tips and his personal thought process.
It's the only way to squeeze in what's important.
