Those books are generally useless imo. It's the artists studies for finished work published in book format with "points" tipped to the reader to pass off as a tutorial. The market for such books are for hobbyist. You'll get better info from youtube.

The older series of 'how to draw manga' however have a wealth of information. Sure the styles presented in those books are outdated but that's besides the idea.

I'm not really looking for a guide exactly, just what makes a cute couple image good, and examples/references for it. Most youtube videos I find are about how to draw a (singular) person, or how to draw a complicated gesture of a (singular) person, maybe interacting with a simple object. While you can just throw 2 people together, I feel like a lot of the time it just comes off as awkward and doesn't flow the same way.

tip an animation friend taught me was taking designs and overlaying construction onto them to aid in breaking down their proportions. it was really useful when i had to draw a lot of on model shiz, i hope the concept can hopefully help you with your query

remember that while the lower teeth get a lotta wiggle room thanks to the jaw's movement the upper teeth are kinda stuck to the bottom of the skull proper. to have some of the teeth placements you're drawing the head would have to be tilting various degrees up or down but the head doesn't appear to be doing that very much. don't forget how important a landmark the ears are on the side of the head for determining the angle at which it faces the viewer

kk, important thing stylistically (at least in my imo) is that a character's hair silhouette should echo the shape of the head underneath and that heads, no matter who's head it is, all have a slight slant upwards when viewed in profile

also with plantigrade legs the shin is just slightly shorter than the thigh proportionally

i was trying to figure out a way to have it fade out by the edge of the paper so it wouldn't be leading the viewer's eye off the page quite so much, if you're talking about the wrist area. if you're talking about the fingers, they're supposed to be fleshed out, just in dramatic shadow. a skeletal hand wouldn't be a bad idea though

Does anyone have any good tips/tutorials on creating stylized drawings based on real people? Not portraits or caricatures, but just keeping them recognizable.

I started drawing about a month ago and I've gotten to the point where I can draw one particular type of face relatively well, sort of a classic disney or comic book style.
