When it comes to art , style and taste are in constant change . The more art you asimilate , the more your drawings will be influenced by what you saw and liked.

I would be really mad at him if he didn't try new things in the last 5 years desu. The fact that he changed his style shows he grew as an artist, he likes other stuff now.


I like the 2012 drawing more but that's my taste . I like fluid lines and drawings. But his taste maybe changed ? Or the approach? Either way , i bet he can go back to the old style at any given time , he just likes his style more now.

theyre both pretty good, doesnt take much to impress me. just decent anatomy, competent shading and whatnot. but the one on the right i do like better

What you are asking it's kind of hard to answer.
That's the thing, spencer has his fundies on point. That sketchbook of his was drawn when he was 16 years old if im not mistaken. He also animates alot. He made some animation sequences for Castlevenia.
You would be able to see his improvement if he would post his whole sketchbook or smth.
His style now is simple and has nothing special but maybe that's a choice ? It's easier to draw , takes less time. And it's not complicated.
The problem is, in my opinion, he is not trying new things at all. Even if he does, maybe he is not doing that in the art style area ? Maybe he focuses more on animation.
