>Artist you secretly look up that happens to lurk /ic/ manages to find you despite being extremely discreet
>They follow you and you get that euphoric "senpai noticed me" feeling
>Start to feel unworthy and insignificant in their gaze and presence
>Delete blog and never create a new one out of fear to be found again

Who /sociallyautistic/ here? How do you cope with someone you admire following you? Are we afraid that they'll realize we're shit and cringey and just not worth having around, so as a defense mechanism we are the ones who leave them first?

Please respond.

I got excited that "teal" followed me...but I don't know if he just follows back or w/e. Still at least he noticed me. I'm just a pathetic /beg/.

Have some pride in yourself you God damned coward. You should be aiming to surpass your betters.

But only porn artist browser here, getting a follow from them isn't something to be proud of.

You could've just soft-blocked them instead of deleting everything, anon.

Work really hard and then one day they'll find you again and see how far beneath they are to you. Then they'll follow you and you follow them back only to unfollow them shortly.

youre not autistic, you're not shy, youre not an anime girl either. Youre just a useless person.

Plenty of god-tier artists has followed me through years but they go because i don't draw the characters/themes they like anymore or i'm a boring person.

I may have 99 problems but a lack of narcissism ain't one. Just welcome it as the most normal thing. Why wouldn't a lion acknowledge another one? It's bad enough to live surrounded by the plebs, don't stay alone. Our place is amongst the greats.
No seriously, build those connections, in a few years you'll be happy to have them.

Getting followed by an artist you like and realizing they only did it out of courtesy because you followed them first and not because they genuinely like your art is the fucking worst thing ever.

Hahaha, feelsbadman. Good thing it happened back to me when it was a decade ago while still underage! Though I have a stronger sense of ego and grew a thicker skin by now and only look up to a very few artists instead plenty of dozens like I used to do when I was new to the scene.

I did that one yesterday at work, done in shitty conditions but no excuse - it would only be cleaner and polished like a good turd. Feel free to post your work with a timestamp.

Hey, >>3152331, what I'm doing here is an illustration of my previous advice. Don't be afraid like that about being discovered an imposter, mocked or ridiculed. Your fear has little basis in reality - because even if it happens, not much actually happens and you're the only who cares - and only if you want to.
Look, I'm sure your art is better than mine - or it could easily be. I'm now going to have some smartass answering this post to inform me about the obvious, so what? Why do you care? Be undeterred, OP.
I'm not saying to ignore critics, because it is just a subtler form of avoidance. Listen to advices and criticism but don't fear them, remember that you are not your art. Dissociate yourself from it, art is limited by your lack of skills (no matter how good you are), you're like a cook who would like his customers to like him for his cake. Your real value is internal. Don't be one of those guys who wait for the day he'll be worthy to post a picture or talk to his sampai - see those guys on /ic/ who want to make comics but won't make a fucking panel until they mastered the fundamentals. The torture we inflict on ourselves. Why do you think no one ever answer to "Post Work" challenges?
I make bad art, but skills can be learned and that lack of skill shall pass one day. Life is short, gotta throw thousands of sketches out of your brain into that paper. We both belong in a place of blessin', OP. You have greatness within you, you gotta eat that truth everyday in the morning, at noon you'll have it for lunch, at night you'll have it for a midnight snack. You are blessed.

Tldr: Don't let fun and opportunities pass by out of fear of failure. Once I talked to Neil Gaiman and he drew me a nice bird. Believe in the senpai who believed in you.
