Do any of you guys have any art friends? Everyone I know draws like a degenerate. How do I drop Loomis redpills without hurting fee-fees and making people think I'm a bitter jerk?

I want to be your friend, I am alone in this artistic pursuit. Gimme some discord or whatever

Look at the art posted in the non-generals. Statistically the average person on this board is a shitter.

I've recently met an artists who's better than me and we're becoming friends. I'll ask him to teach me shit so I can have his skill rub off on me then quickly surpass him.

Sorta same story but the opposite, I recently made an art friend who skill wise is slightly below me but I can see real potential. I kinda want him to try get up to my level so we can compete, I like competition, plus he lives in the same country as me (UK) so I hope we can meet sometime and butt heads in a friendly way.

I believe in you art buddy, have a great freshers week!

>hating people who surpass you

Jesus anon, if he's surpassed you it's not his fault, the blame lays on yourself for not working as hard. Let me guess he took courses and read into stuff while you did a doodle every now and then and expected results.

If you feel you're lagging behind then it's up to you to up your game, stop blaming other people for your slowness.

if they express an interest in getting better at a specific thing you can point them in the direction of helpful resources, or you can occasionally bring up resources that have helped you, but if those resources are any bigger than the average tumblr post they probably won't read through them.

I'd recommend not getting so invested in your friends' artistic growth. 99% of artists want to be good but don't want to do the work required to get there. When you meet someone from that 1% who's eager to put the work in you'll know.

to be honest, yeah he worked hard, but he also had that spark. i think it's because he took inspiration from many sources including art books, movies, games. i only had one artist i aspired to and while i did eventually broaden my horizons, i couldn't assimilate content as well as he did. he had a great design sense and made everything look good.
i strongly believe that it's the ability to tell apart good from the bad is what separates talented people from regular ones. that intuition is a unique trait closely tied to personality.

Bitch. ass. nigga.
Creativity and design are leaned skills. Literally jot down what you like about things you see, analyze it, and apply to your own art you lazy ass.

Naw it grows as you learn more. I look back at some stuff I used to consider well done at it's terrible now that I know what is wrong with it.
