Does anyone else have this constant need to hide away from your known aliases, to make a profile from scratch every time you want to do something new?
That is consuming me lately, and there's the obvious downside of not having an audience beforehand. But the idea of centralizing all my art under a single alias feels wrong, and I don't know what to do anymore.

No, having an alternate alias for your degenerate porn doesn't count. I'm talking about hiding for no obvious reason.

We meet again Ianus Bifrons. At this point im going to just have project names rather than pen names, the more I can do to seperate the person from the art the better.

no, but when i was in college, a long time ago. I was obsessed with self branding and having a consistent style. it was the very hip thing to do at the time. uh just cut it out.

sort of. it's not such a problem for me, but i have 2 other names where I post practice work i think is good, but not good enough to attach to my personal, official portfolio.

>> No.3057525

I feel a bit self-conscious about my real name.

Yep, when i was on cuckbook i would change my name every so often
I think its freeing, you dont pin yourself down or limit yourself

Yes, but ultimately I decided that I have to be just one person, for now. I don't know your skill level, but I am past a beginner stage but still very new to drawing in general.

Yep, but managing more than one persona is hard so I stopped posting with the old one entirely. Kinda sucks because I had some useful connections tied with that alias.

Yeah, but where/how are you going to spread it without an account of some type?

I'm taking the field of dreams approach, it's not working given that i've been around for quite a long time. That said its something I do for myself anyway so I don't care about mass appeal, in the same way there are thousands of manga that aren't known or appeciated by many I think it's fine to only really strike a chord with a few people.

This doesn't make any sense at all.
Do you have like a cognitive issue or something?

Are you just posting to reddit through throwaways?

Stop wasting time on retarded shit, no one cares who you are.

What are you even talking about? Kill yourself anytime.

Authors will often release works under new pen names to avoid having their works "judged by its cover". They want the work to stand on its own, unattached to whatever positive or negative bias the audience (or even editors) might have towards the person behind it.

For an unknown nobody to worry about this is pretty silly and self-detrimental, but the rationale is there.

In fact, I am not only the most famous artist on deviantArt, I am secretly the three other runner-ups.

Take aliases which will let you merge or at least acknowledge your different works later. Like, if your alias is WhiteCat for your comic book project, use Shiroineko for your anime blog full of kawai uguu shits. If you use a different white cat for both banners, it's highly unlikely that anyone would track you down, but if you finally acknowledge both it will look like you planned it all along.

> Terrible example (author of p0rn for samurai/author of comic book for kids): jjfrenchie, joel jurion

Also make sure to put it on websites which have Export options (like Wordpress), this way you can save everything easily and maybe Upload it later on a totally different and official site.

That's interesting, but your example is so obvious it hurts.
Isn't it just simpler to reveal yourself if/when you want to merge?
