I'm like really bad at environments. Not in the case that I'm not good at drawing them, but rather imagining environments themselves. My thought process is like "okay, this large space is flat ground, maybe put a tree over here, a mountain over there and done".
How do you come up with interesting environments?
Also how the fuck do you draw clouds?

try making tumbnails small enough so you can sit for 20 minutes straight and come out with like 150+ at the end . it's supposed to be fun and not tedious... with 3 - 5 strokes like 1 stroke for the foreground object/ person/ hill and the rest is background, maybe walls or distant clouds with lighter hues or saturation because "Athmospheric perspective "

the details are irrelevant like what kind of trees you can add all that later.. go for a cohesive working together composition.

Don't ever ask ic how to do things.
Look instead at how old and current masters handle environments.

im literally only using a textured square brush, soft round like one drybrush/textured for a bit of the marks in the background and the trees.
it's pretty standard stuff.

I especially like it because I actually have a good image what that looks like irl, so it's cool to see it represented stylistically.

well I'm no expert but i wanna become a concept artist, so depending on the kind of artist you want to become there might be different approaches.
Try to tell a story/put yourself there. do small thumbnails, spend 30min-3 hours on them, learn from feng, paick, etc. emulate their techniques, you need to gather references. try to recreate a videogame scene or book, or movie scene. for clouds use photographs, textured brushes, go take a pic of a cloud you see in the sky that you like and make a custom brush idk, remember the what? where? why?.
etc. pic is a wip.
