It has a certain stiffness with the fabric and even the hair, which is probably what I loved about it among other things. I dont even get the reference but then it makes it even moreso amazing as being relatable to a certain style.

Nope. All his anime faces look like that, and if he's not doing anime, he's doing realism. I think he struggles with rendering from imagination. His anime work just needs an extra kick to it. Also, he's always doing figure studies, so his bodies are amazing, but he lacks in the facial department.

Btw I love all his studies and sketches. They make his skill level look attainable, and makes me want to practice.

I agree, but I don't he practices anime faces all that often, because they're supposed to be easy to do. He can do figure studies and have it apply to anime without altering anything, but its harder to that when its the face. However, I don't think his faces are that big of a deal even if I would visually prefer something else.
