Who here /draws as a means of escapism to escape from shitty reality/?

>> No.2997058

i rather see it as an expansion of reality

escapism resulted in some great artists thougj, but you have to be careful. a lot of H doujins are really disconnected from reality which imo lessens their appeal

So that's why I'm dissatisfied with my art... shitty art isn't enough to replace a shitty reality.

Whelp, at least it gives me an incentive to progress.

It's convenient sometimes, especially good ecchi/pin-ups or just some boobies, but you'll run the risk of forgetting why you draw in the first place if you keep it up for too long. It's a balance, really - keep your serious stuff fun, too - have a comic be enjoyable by having the story, characters, action, etc., be about whatever stories you have fun sharing; while letting the steam of the workload off with some cool down sketches.

that's just what an escapist would say

I think you missed the point. Escapism isn't merely a synonym for fun; it's about ignoring your real-world problems to focus on the imagined necessity of your art gains.
