not that anon but that is really not about brush technique. Instead you are just not visualizing the line you want to draw. Try drawing the picture first with a wide grey brush and then redraw your line work on top of that to see if it makes a difference in your performance. Just trying to draw a straigth line out of the box wont help much or at all if you don't solve the cause/effect issue of poor visualization.

I don't know whether I hate or like Kyle's art. There are certain positive traits that I admire in his style. I mean, he's very good at showing volume and creating accurate, symmetric faces, his lines are very clean and stylistic, he's knows how to use contrast when shading and to create a nice, warm palette when coloring. However, the final product always looks weird, as if it's worse than the sum or its parts. It's stiff and lifeless, and almost ends up in the uncanny valley.

Kyle draws good feet yes, but its the same feet over and over and over. So either he's very stuck on using the same construction method, or hes using 3D models, OR what i suspect is that he's using his own feet for reference since in some of them they almost seem detached from the rest of the figure as though they were a separate reference. He's fixed the goblin faces pretty well, but the feet need variety IF that's going to be the main focus of his pics. Shorter feet, thinner feet, less prominent bump on the outside side of the foot, different shaped toes, different length toes, different heel shape, different arch shape etc... The person looking at the piece generally doesn't know what someone is going for, and it has nothing to do with whether or not the piece triggers the uncanny valley effect.
The other anon expressed that the drawings were a little creepy, and I was giving my reasons for why I thought that was. His characters look like dolls, with very fucked facial expressions.

Another thing is that it feels like he puts more of a "cartoon" vibe into the eyes than he does with the mouths. So while the eyes are drawn manga style, the mouths look fairly accurate. It looks slightly off from either style, and so it appears creepy no matter how you're looking at it.

That's what he literally did though, if you can't see all the differences you're not analysing enough, it's as simple as overlaying both pictures. Changing the perspective for no reason is unnecessary

It's out of place because his values are wrong and the light source makes no sense (see the horn), zelda looks like she's floating because her hand doesn't look like it's pressing against the monster's skin, while in the original it does since her hand is placed on the middle of the thigh. There are other issues that contribute to the floating, but those are not directly caused by referencing a pose

I'm self-taught personally. Took me 4+ years to go from horrid to good. It will probably take me 4-5 more to actually reach some levels of mastery and have the skills needed to spawn something worth-while.

In any case, If drawing and creating is your passion- don't stress over time. Just give it your all, do the needed sacrifices and push forward until your desires come true.
