Nope. Cheap acrylic I bought on Amazon. I also dont clean my brushes or prep the canvas. Sometimes I mix the gesso with the paint for no reason. I also use way too much water for acrylic.

idk I'm pretty content about where its going. not quite finished but I more or less achieved what I set out to do. I did kind of abandon the female figure that is supposed to be in the picture but you can kind of see it, what with the mushroom cloud is supposed to be boobs. And the character Merkin Muffley is staring at where the crotch essentially is.

Its a monochromatic piece using still frames from a famously well lit black and white movie. I dont think its perfect, and btw I dont think it should be perfect (wabi sabi brah), but there's a fair amount of tonal range considering the painting was made solely with black paint.

Well I was probably a better draughtsman 15 years ago than you are now. I'm not flexing my "look at how well I can draw" nuts because I'm already kind of comfortable there and I'm pushing myself to do something different. I like the aesthetic of taking the exact image and fucking it up with paint. How triggered do you get by printmakers?
At this point I mostly keep doing graphite transfers because I like how much it triggers he chidrens at /ic/

eh. if it hasn't become blatantly obvious I'm only good at faces. Plus I'm like 80% cheating on these. I print them out and do a graphite transfer onto the canvas of the head shape, where the eyes, nostils, mouth, and major creases are. then I go back and draw in where the major color changes happen and shit.

that was kind of the appeal to me when I decided I wanted to get back into painting last year. I like how acrylic generally has kind of a flat, childish look to it.

pretty excited about this doing piece once I start fucking with oils. Reinterpreting that shot from Alien to look like Van Gogh's Potato Eaters. Look at the hands, they're already mostly where they should be. Ripley even kind of has the same profile as far-left peasant. I'm honestly smitten as fuck about how great of an idea this is, and I'll probably never do it because its on way too high a pedestal now.
