He's a wild child. He rides the winds that bring the rain. He's a creature of love and he can't be tamed.

he never should have shop lifted those condoms form the dollar store. why did he kill his girlfriend?

he's a douche bag super artist.

>> No.2879094

I have recently discovered that he has a youtube channel and it really surprised me that he is just a chill guy. I thought he would more... elitist or whatever but he's actually cool to know. That is great.

Legit artist. No photo bashing. He's an pretty cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything.

Nice guy, I think he once wrote a long blog post about almost going to jail and kicking his art into overdrive. Now he does posters for movies. He's also my traditional art inspiration. He uses lead like it digital, which I just don't understand, but wish I did.

>> No.2879110

He's a cool guy. Big inspiration. As far as his art, not a huge fan of his new stuff. Its a lot more accurate and clean, but in turn feels like it's lost all the energy which I originally liked him for.

>> No.2879452

Seems like a nice, inspiring guy, like to listen to his podcasts. Not the biggest fan of his new stuff though.

What's his new stuff? All I see on his tumblr is a Logan movie marketing poster, a bunch of loose portrait sketches and some Steve Lichman stuff. Nothing that I'd describe as particularly clean and lacking energy in comparison to his older work.

By new stuff I meant when he switched to doing that lineart style. Not my cup of tea. Really like his older works though, especially the ones for that Black Witch project/comic/book/thing

When you said "it's a lot more accurate and clean" I thought you were comparing his new work to his older lineart stuff from StarVeil etc. I don't see how his rendered paintings have more energy than his usual drawings. If anything, it's probably the opposite because you always tend to lose energy with tight rendering that a sketch or loose lineart tends to have.

Someone who stole something in the past, got convicted and paid for his crime years ago, then went on to lead an honest life is no longer allowed to complain if he himself becomes the victim of theft? You have some weird as fuck sense of morality.

>> No.2879694

was a big fan of his crimson daggers back in the day, got me to take drawing seriously.

holy fuck that was so long ago though, still havent made it

>> No.2879702

>>2879662
You're talking to a different anon.

And yeah, rendered pieces def dont have that energy but I prefer the mood they convey, and his knowledge of showing forms and creating the sense of detail while still keeping everything really loose is very nice.

Wouldnt call any of the pieces I posted "tightly rendered" by the way, it's all still *very* loose.

can we please stop these "What's your opinion about x artist"
Stick to yourself, form you own opinions

>> No.2880108

He started taking art seriously after he was caught stealing and then wouldn't be hired anywhere afterwards, so had no choice but to aim for online work
But he told everyone on the crimson daggers streams that he worked hard to get enough savings and then quit his job and then grinded art

dont think he should have lied about that, especially to crimson daggers kids who then tried to do the same thing

serious study group back in conceptart org times
got pretty popular when the site had trouble with jason manley being a jew to his "friends" and a bunch of people moved there instead
dave rapoza and dan warren would do constant streams and weekly competitions to git people gud
I think alex negrea came from there, not sure though

>> No.2880252

>>2880237
Mike Azevedo also came out of there, but honestly guys like Mike or Alex would have been good regardless. In my opinion the whole crimson daggers approach was very flawed and mostly resulted in people focusing on grinding studies and not thinking, and most people there had the exact same major flaws in their work like really poor colour, shape design, storytelling, structure etc. They often focused on photo studies and details and it really harmed their work.
