It's making porn illustrations the only way to have success in patreon?

I mean; I can't find a SFW artist that earn the money than Norasuko, DoxyDoo or even Sinner earn per week.

Only if you're male. It's sad that the only we'll know male artists I know of are Slugbox, Jolly Jack, Gerph, Bleedman, and Gashi Gashi. Shmorky was doing ok for a while before he was exposed as being a pedopphile but I attribute his success 100% to his trans thing. Tom Preston too but he fucked himself.

For the most part though it seems like porn is the common thread among male artists.

Marmalade Mum here.
I was about to make my Patreon. I had a decent following of 3000 and I thought that was an appropriate number to begin
Unfortunately, Nintendo took down three of my Nintendo drawings all within a week of each other which resulted in a ban.
So my account was deleted and I had to restart with a new one, ironically named Super Marmalade Mum.
I'm only back at around 300 followers, gaining about 50 a week, so its pretty unfortunate

Everyone is doing the amateur political pundit thing these days and the only time people appreciate it is if it aligns with their views. If you're making any explicit political statements, you're either tickling their pickles or alienating part of your audience. People like to believe they came across political or ideological revelations on their own, or from an educated, credible source. If you're primarily an artist but you voice your political opinion on the side, you're not going to sway anyone who believes otherwise, as they'll simply justify "Well, what does he know? He seems to spend most of his time drawing anime tiddies, not studying political science and economics". If you think you're a credible enough source of political or social observations, then find a separate, legitimate platform for espousing your views. The fact that you'd take to your art blog to share them is already a sign that you doubt your ability to attract an audience on your politics alone.

You want this to be your full-time job, right? I'd expect an artist with this skill level to make about $200 on Patreon if he had some decent reward tiers set up and charge about $35 for a commission with similar amount of effort.

You can make twice or thrice as much depending on how well you market yourself or how bizarre porn you're willing to draw, many other artists did.

The more vanilla your thematics are, the more artists there will be in your category competing for customers.

>>2877600
Good question.

- Patrons like to feel engaged and personal with the artist, make them feel like they just got invited to a concert backstage of their favourite artist
- Make sure there's something for both artist/non-artist fans.
- Avoid rewards that put extra work on you, such as "sketch every month", or at least make them expensive.

Good reward ideas:
>High res of finished work, PSD files
(free)
>Early access to finished work
(also free)
>Sketch batches
(you'd do those anyway)
>Process pictures/vids
(you got invited to the backstage of my thought process)
>critiques/paintovers
(help out your fellow artists)
>Private patron-only stream sessions
(the "cool kids" club)
>make free tutorials and offer patron-only bonus content
(they'll get a taste and come back for more)
>draw 3 or 4 thumbnails for your next piece and let the patrons vote on which you'll take to finish

Rupert Everton has a pretty cool $10 reward:
>An ongoing strip show. Pledge 10$ and you can vote on which piece of clothing will be removed next

Limit rewards that put extra work on you (monthly sketch, commission discounts). There's only one you for all the patrons, find a way they all can get something out of supporting you.

i'm very convinced you do not run a patreon. psd files should be in your 10-15 dollar tier, as should most tutorials. the rest of that stuff will wear you out to burnout in no time.

here is a real tier set-up:
$5
sketches, early access to work, blog shit, etc

$10
hi res full color pieces

$15
access to PSD
tutorials (optional)

$45-$95 (limit 2)
if you have prints you can sell them here.

I'm a retarded autistic girl, but I'm somewhat attractive and usually have a lot of people asking to sleep with me, but I have zero social energy. I've tried to do tumblr, DA, FA, and currently Facebook for my art, but I've never had luck for the fact that I suck and I lack the ability to interact with people because autism.

Drawing is also really hard for me because I'm legally blind and it takes me forever to finish something. I'm on SSI and I really need more money. The only hope I have is to attract people with my looks.

That being said, what social media is best in conjunction with patreon if I can only handle running 1? I'm also apprehensive about the reward system, considering I can take two weeks to a month to finish one small sketch. Am I just screwed? I'll also draw really hard kinks like inflation, scat and watersports, but not cp.

>But only retards make minimum wage in their careers after school

The vast majority of jobs that exist are going to be minimum wage or very close to minimum wage. There is a glut of capable workers in most states.

> If you're making minimum wage as an independent then you really need to look into HVAC

Certainly. But there is a barrier to entry here

>or Plumbing

and here that you probably don't know about. Trades are generally well paid because there aren't a lot of them. And there aren't a lot of them because unions (for locales where a union exists and requires membership) tend to keep new employee intake low in order to have greater leverage for wage and salary negotiations when contract renewal comes up. They also tend to be top heavy so the older members of the union (not necessarily by age but by time in the union) are more "recession proof" than the younger members. So when the union needs to purge membership to keep hours and wages up it's the youngest members of the union who get let go.

Additionally trade school education isn't standardized so there is no guarantee of good training from place to place. My best friend runs the weld shop for the company he works for at the port in my city (pretty big port because it's Florida) and he's literally crumpled up someone's welding certificate from the local college because they were garbage at actually welding.

For a lot of these well paying trades it has become de facto more important that you know someone already in. My best friend for example only got started on his career path because his father (a contractor) knew a company at the port looking for temp workers to do bitch work. So by personal introduction he got on. Then after three years he made enough friends that out of 30+ temp workers he and one other guy were asked if they wanted to apprentice for a trade and everyone else was let go. Then he spent the next 5 years moving around the country on different jobs.
