20 y/o isn't actually that old, so I don't get what the point is of saying people started at 20. That's pretty young. And it's a bit misleading, I think Alan Rickman did theatre for most of his life, just not film.

I think satisfactory skill can come to anyone if they just work at it for 5 years. Its a matter of jobs and popularity. Its much more encouraging to be a 15 year old with a large fanbase than a 35 year old trying to fit in. And something like an animation studio would have no reason to hire someone above the age of 25 with no experience as opposed to newcomer.

Maturity, experience with working, etc. etc.

Besides, your portfolio is the only thing that matters in the art industry.

If I'm not mixing him with some other actor the porn kickstarted his acting career. He was broke and unsuccessful in life until he got a deal in porn scene with miniscule payment.

>> No.2815307

Nah, the porn thing was just so he could eat, nigga was literally a hobo.
What kickstarted his carrier was Rocky.
IIRC, he wrote the script and offered it to whtever studio, but insisted on playing the lead role and rights to the movie, so they paid him peanuts for the script and star role, but the movie was so successful he made out like a bandit.
He previously had to sell his dog so he would have money to eat, and he gave some ridiculous amount from the money they gave him for the script to find his dog and get him back. That's the dog in the movie.

It's a nice inspirational tale, and I believe that alot can be achieved at a later age, it's just more difficult and disheartening to deal with the age difference.

I would rather though know of some recent artist, or some more artist who started late. These are fine pics, but their pieces are famous for more than technical skill.

This is not very motivational. My goal is surely not painting like Van Gogh or Ceazanne.
Let's not talk about shitty hacks like Rowling and her fan fic tier shit.

Also, is 20 considered late?

That's the biggest mistake. They did something relevant from their childhood. And it's much more important than the date they're bought a tablet and started grinding loomis.
Also if you look at biography of a random talanted genius youll most likely see some shit like won oscar at age of 3 or build their first spacecraft at age of 1.

Doesn't matter still successful. At least they will be/are remembered after they die by more than just their friends and family.

Good message, but it naively optimistic and undermines how complicated being successful is.
