Since I promised myself that this will be the debut year of my art I would like your opinion on some stuff that I have made, mostly is not finished but I try my best as an self taught artist. Never studied anything but started to get serious after 2012 before that I mostly did crappy-doodles and anime... I'll start with my most recent one:

in a few years, maybe - depending on where you're aiming for, and only if you work hard to improve. right now your anatomy needs a lot of work, and your style seems to be cramming in as much superfluous detail as possible to hide your lack of understanding of form.

I've seen this before somewhere, weeks ago. I very specifically remember thinking that those food items are clearly too small.

Not at your current skill level, and not if your latest piece is weeks old. Why aren't you practicing every day?

Feng Zhu says that you should keep in mind that you're competing with people who take art seriously as their profession. They're putting in 8-10 hours a day, so if you can't do that much it doesn't necessarily mean you'll fail, but you'll be at a disadvantage. But if you're only producing a new piece once every few weeks, you're definitely going to fail.

also it'd be good to learn to properly judge your own work.

i feel that you'd like http://andrewmar.tumblr.com, this guy updates often, has a similar style and can be someone to aspire towards, and only in his very early 20s iirc.

Wow, this sounds so true.. I have been trying to focus more on hard anatomy and I seem to better every time but I will really keep this in mind, thank you!

I have a hard time finding time for my art, since I am a very active young man who likes to take drugs, party and living life but everytime I find some free time I always try to create something because my creative thinking doesn't really stop even if I am not drawing, but I will practice much more from now and maybe skip the partying because my dream is to work with creativity and my art.

Will totaly check out since I am currently 21 myself and would love to be inspired.

Sorry forgot to include you on the reply cause I answered your comment .. But I will clearly keep that in mind especially about the productive part since I only produce art now and then, I don't think you know how much I appriciate the feedback since I have never had anyone really being honest and proffesional about my work, thank you really!

dziekuje! I tried a little before but I have a really hard time studying art and I find it frustrating doing art-exercises but I know it is essential, but thank you!

Sorry, not trying to be a bother here, just glad that people actually replied and critiqued my work which feels truly amazing because all these tips and tricks will really help me evolve!

>>2810993
Yes it is, was doing it for line-practice since Murata is one amazing artist with great technical skills when it comes to inking.

> I am a very active young man who likes to take drugs, party and living life

If you want to be professional, you have to stop partying, take drugs and living life basically. I was in the same boat as you, partying and taking drugs all the time. I stopped radically one day and took 3 years of my life to study art. My art improved tremendously, and it's very fulfilling for me to be able to produce art that I love. I worked as a porn artist time to time to earn some money, it was fun, but now I'm working on a painting portfolio for galleries and starting my little business.

Also, if some of your party 'friends' desert you, you have to not care. Being an hermit is a good test to see who really likes you and who don't. Dont hold on useless people.

On your art : You have really good ideas, that's a good thing, but your anatomy/values/colors are off. Focus on that in your studies, and then advance to depth/edge control/some perspective.

I forgot line quality as well.

I recommend you "the natural way to draw" by Nicolaides, "color and light" by James Gurney and "Pen and Ink Drawing: A Simple Guide" by Alphonso Dunn ( check out his channel, it's really good ).

Good luck, have fun and work your ass off.
