How do you construct your drawings?

>> No.2789908

>>2789885
Learn anatomy and perspective. You'll mostly be practicing perspective with construction since it's based around simplifying anatomy/objects down to basic forms.

Read some Bridgman or something

>> No.2789912

>>2789885
I make a loose gesture for the spine, then the 3 blocks of head / chest / pelvis, then sticks for limbs. I switch things around till I like the pose.

>>2789885

I just feel it and it comes. I trust my gut.

No, I am specifically asking how do YOU construct your figures. I'm interested in the different methods people employ.

>> No.2789917

>>2789908

I think he's asking what you do, not how to do it.

Also as for the question I've found that I find it easiest when I start with a line of action for the spine, do a 'bean' from that, and then build the limbs and head from there. Whenever I start with the head my proportions wind up fucked or I run out of space on my page.

You're either so experienced that it feels natural and you're a dick for not explaining what you practiced years of your life perfecting, or you're an excruciatingly bad artist shitting up a good thread.

Care to show us which one of those you really are? If not you can just fuck right off

>> No.2789927

>>2789915
tried asking this years ago about the different mannequins there are and /ic/ was would not answer. The real answer is >>2789908

There is no simplified construction that is always perfect, and people's construction methods change all the time base on what type of pose and what part of the body you're drawing, not mentioning fat and body types.

I will say this, i think the less complex the pose, the less construction you need. Vilppu said construction is just a tool.

You only need it for figuring out forms that dont come naturally.

>> No.2789928

>>2789924
What? I like to think organically, even for figures, so I put more emphasis on the gestural quality first, construction 2nd. But by no means am I coming off as a pro, I just know what I want.

>> No.2789929

>>2789885
Gesture first, proportion check, then the ribcage/hips/head combo in perspective, everything else is usually sketched in as bones muscles and forms all together, but when I run into something I don't quite understand I draw from bones>muscles>fat/flesh

I usually don't, I just draw like pic related. Bare in mind that it still has many flaws, but it'll become better and better once I understand the anatomy better and better. Anatomy and construction and anatomy memorization is the key (memorize how everything looks from any angle), not gesture, at least for me.

>> No.2790723

I use a squarish top for the shoulders and top and curve the sides. I then closely put a box for the pelvis and then cut it to a pelvic form. Do it all lightly and then build a meaty form over it.
