It's almost impossible to be a modern-day Da Vinci if you're after the "Universal Man" experience. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely something you should strive for, but being a Polymath is fucking hard considering how deep a lot of disciplines go. You should still be pushing yourself to learn as much as possible from the world as you can- reading philosophy, studying maths, history, biology, physics, chemistry- but not because you feel like you should. Rather, it should be because you WANT to.

What makes Da Vinci unique was that he was endlessly curious about the world around him and he studied it fervently his entire life.

...But if you're just after the skill he had with the paintbrush, you can easily reach his level in a few years if you dedicate yourself.

Considering the era and the artists of the time, Da Vinci was a fucking failure and didn't catch a break til he was 42 years old with THE LAST SUPPER. Up until that point he was some little goth kid that couldn't hack it as an artist. He had the reputation of an artist that did shit jobs and never finished the work. He did get a job that he worked hard on and then the people that hired him decided to have it go another way and scrapped the project. I believe this was what he thought was gonna be a good career move. It wasn't. He failed yet again. Since his reputation as a /b/tard homie had to find work. There was a morgue that hired him to do some shit around the business. This is when ol' creeps started fucking drawing dead bodies to practice. He didn't have 4chan to see all this shit. So he began to draw that shit. And he was a twisted fuck. Definitely /b/ material. He started cutting these fuckers open and drawing the inside. If he would have been caught he would have been fucked. So this right here shows you where his head was at.

He had further failure when the Sistine Chapel was about to be painted. The greatest artists in all the land were called to add to this structure. Poor little Leo wasn't even considered. He was a bitch ass.

PERSEVERANCE is the attribute that made Da Vinci a Godfather of art. Motherfucker was fucked in the brain. He did the only thing that made sense to him. Being an artist can be a blessing and a curse. A true artist understands this suffering. We do not care about anything but what we find important. Art is primary and everything else is a second and third thought. For the last month I've been shrooming and drawing non stop because I felt this needed to be done before anything else in life. lol. Do you. You'll be good. But make sure you go hard, Otherwise it's a waste.

Depends how you define polymath.

It now takes a lifetime to learn 99% of a subject
But you can know 80% of something in a few years

And it's more useful to know 80% in 7 areas than 99% of just 1.
