Is there an illustration of how good you should be at certain age? I know its all relative for everyone but I still want to know if I am complete trash or can I still make it

of course not.it all depends on when you personally start. if you start at age 20, then you should be good by age 25 if you didn't fuck around.

how old are you?

its not an issue, just move it onto you and then compare. Thats not a problem at all.

I am 23.

If you can't make something this good 1 year after starting, don't bother.

Instead of certain age, how about by how long you've been drawing?

>this is how good you should be if you drew for 5 years

>this is how you should be if you drew 20 years

If you want to keep a good measure of your progress, google for ateliers/art schools that prepare students for architecture studies, check out the sites of those that brag about high or 100% admission rate. They often post their best student's work in internet gallery.

If after a year (or 2) of studying from 0 you can achieve similar quality, then you are ok.

It isn't, though. "This is how good you should be at age 20" is a lot less useful than "this is how good you should be after drawing for 5 years"

It also embodies that retarded philosophy held by a lot of /ic/ of feeling like you've got a handicap unless you've been drawing since you were fucking 5 years old or something. Some people have this curious inability to tolerate the fact that some people are inevitably going to have a head start on them. Likewise, there are going to be people who start later than you and get better than you in a shorter timespan, this is almost completely inevitable unless you're a major outlier. There are people who actually tell themselves "I'm 23 why bother if I'd started drawing when I was 15 I'd be professional tier by now woe is me!"

There's that Chinese saying, the best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is now. Better to measure artistic benchmarks by "time spent on art" rather than "time spent existing" because the latter is just going to depress you.

if there is a picture of how someone was good at age 18 then 19 then 20, assuming he started at 18, you just convert it into year one, year two, year three etc. It is the same, whats so hard to understand

>> No.2779858

>>2779855

I'm saying it's less precise than saying 1 year, 2 year, 3 year.

If you say "this is how good at 18" that provides zero fucking information on how long the person has been practicing art before age 18.

It's only "the same" if you know he started at 18, in which case you can say he's been drawing for year one, year two, year three, etc. Which is just literally a superior metric in every conceivable way.
