I find it very unusual that his kind of character got good at art, when all he does is lie, cheat, steal and take shortcuts.

>> No.2768699

Art is not your personality. Then again, these are anecdotal.

When you say "shortcut" do you mean phototexturing and photobashing? He's had so much experience that he knows how to pull it off without looking amateur.

Why? People like Caravaggio were HUGE assholes and even murdered a guy. There's no rule saying you need to be a nice person to be a good artist. Feng also went to ACCD which helped.

>his kind of character got good at art

he is not good at art. he is just a good concept artist. and now a businessperson, and those traits are very much beneficial to becoming a good businessperson.

i only started making money with art when i began thinking about it in terms of being a businessperson and throwing ethics out the window.

Im currently in CCS studying for illustration. It's junior year and things are JUST starting to pick up. If I was smart about it, I would've done 2 years of lib arts and then gone to CCS. Liberal arts KILL momentum.

CCS is awesome although I wish there was open figure drawing sessions everyday. Instructors are nice enough to let you sit in class and draw, but I'm talking like a dedicated time frame for just figure drawing on your own.

CCS illustration department focuses on draftsmanship, paintsmanship, process, and conceptualizing. Entertainment Arts department focuses on industry standards and workflow. Having both really allows me to strengthen all aspects at once kinda.

Nothing like Art Center, but it's definitely close for sure.

Yes its me, I'm sorry I've been gone.

It is week 14 the last week for this term at ACCD.

I did above and beyond by finishing all of my final projects plus extra credit opportunities last week so I'm basically free (besides some essays to print out and final project paperwork)

I didn't feel the need to start a separate thread again because like everyone said its my 1st term.

I got signed off on some Entertainment Art Classes for next term. (just two : 3D fundamentals and Design process 1.)

> Side note for those wondering from last time

I received some money from the scholarship review (it was only a bit but still)

For those wondering if you can still take Entertainment classes even if you're a different major : yes, have the guidance counselor sign off on it and talk to the instructor to the classes you want, get to know them. I think me and one other Illustration girl are pretty much the only ones taking EA classes next term because of this.

Over all I improve 10 fold and now that winter break is coming all I feel like doing is working still. I've learned so much and i want to finally apply it to personal work plus get ahead and start preparing for other classes.

I was pretty much drowning in work during mid terms and I didn't get to go home but now looking back it was a bit worth it, sadly I missed my sisters birthday but I'll see her in a few days when I fly back home.

I by no means think I'm a monster (nothing will make you more humble in this school then a 6-8th termer "doodling" in front of you or an instructor showing "just some sketches")

Went to FZD. Intense, educational, and awesome experience.

Got a legitimate freelance job within a couple months after graduating.

Still going strong and still in touch with a number of awesome friends from the program.

Id say I got what i paid for. Some might disagree but most of my friends are of a similar opinion.

Biggest Advice I would offer if you are considering the program is to make sure you are able to let go of your ego, trust the feedback, and put everything else in your life on hold for the duration.

Entertainment Art is an Illustration track, you're thinking of Entertainment Design.
Also you're pretty cocky if you think that you two are the only people taking Entertainment classes. After Tim Flattery left they've been letting almost anyone outside ED take their classes, all you have to do is ask and you can fill up empty spots.

marko djurdjevic is a MASSIVE douchebag and he "got good at art" too. where the fuck did you get this mindset?

just because someone is good at something, it does not make them a good person. just because someone is famous or well-known, it does not make them a good person.

stop being fanboys and fangirls. wake up.

artists are humans too, and humans have the capacity for both good and evil.

I went on campus to turn in my portfolio since i was in the area (and so theres no reason for them not to give it back to me since they don't have to mail it)

I took some pictures on the old thread of a few of the charcoal work but it was nothing but slightly above average. You're not missing anything but not seeing it.

The entrance essays (if they haven't changed) were about 3 artist who inspired you and why, and two short responses basically about yourself. The actual application online will have the essays, you could fill it out and look at the essays and send it in when you're ready maybe?

Have a teacher fix any grammars/misspelling mistakes, have others read it over, and don't feel pressured to put in only traditional artists. You should be actually passionate about who you're writing about.

>>2774175

I don't think, I know. Since the only Deidre the main guidance counselor has to be the one to put in your classes if it's a different major. She told me herself that one other girl basically did what I did.

I typed what I said since it was a concerned for those interested in going to ACCD but nothing getting into that major. They wanted to know if it was possible and I said I'd let them know.

And no it is not that easy since the instructor has to give the okay to even take their class. The way their classes are set up is to pretty much exactly fit how many students they currently have and a few seats left open for incoming students. It's extremely limited for a reason. They want small classes.

And since both the instructors wanted to look at my classwork and personal work before they even considered me I doubt it's that easy. Otherwise half the incoming students would be taking Entertainment classes next term.

Illustration now (No credit class they force you to take), Viscom 1, Design 1, Heads and Hands, and Perspective.

I took viscom 1 since I didn't need to take a academic class this term, I wouldn't recommend taking 5 studio classes.

>> No.2775126

>>2775119
What do you learn in illustration that it's forced? Also got any images of your new work? Would be cool to see how far you've improved with all those classes. Although heads and hands sounds like a weird class to take, did you have previous anatomy experience?

>> No.2775142

>>2775126

Illustration Now is basically a course that has guest speaks in the industry who went to ACCD come talk about the tracks they took at school, answer questions, etc. They typically showed their before and afters of their entrance portfolio, graduation portfolio, and their current work.

You have to take this, there's no way around this class even if you know what track you want.

I won't be posting my new work here until term 3, I think by then I'll be at a level worth showing a before and after. Even though I improved a lot (I cringe looking back at some of my stuff) I still don't think it's worth showing.

I also don't want to be traced back (Since I know for a fact at least one other ACCD Illustration student lurks here)

I'll be more then happy to show you non-classwork when I finally get home this week. I'll basically redo assignments and post them here if you would like.

Really? Are those just easy? Also is Illustration Now a free A too? What kind of work is done through that?

And that would be awesome if you could do that. I realize it's extra work so don't burden yourself if you don't want to do it. I can wait until term 3. That's like half a year right?

>> No.2776715

>>2775151

Illustration Now is no credit, you do have one assignment of a self directed field trip (go with friends) but other then that you just sit in the auditorium and listen to guest speakers.

Compostion and Drawing is basically half figure drawing and then other is how to compose figures together in different relations. It is pretty fun, it was an easy A for me because I had some figure drawing experience while others had 0. I mean they got the hang of it really quickly but since I kinda knew what to do it was a bit of a breeze.

It would be extra work, but I'll be doing some sort of drawing regardless when I get home so I'll try to show you something, you deserve that much for being so patient.
