Ilya sat on his DA account for 4 years mostly unnoticed, until he got 2 daily deviations and his "Mathilda" piece got featured on the front page of DA for several days in 2014, causing several other snowball effects like his drawings being featured on 9gag and getting many reblogs on tumblrs where it was shared. This skyrocketed him and got him a million page views before the end of the year.

i don't blame him for doing this, any time you ask "how do I draw like __" you're going to be told to study them to learn their techniques. he liked several animes so he studied them to help him become an anime artist. doing these exercises is probably how he eventually developed his style. he shouldn't have uploaded them though, especially not without even mentioning it was a study.

I swear to god, Kron is literally the only artist who's existence pisses me off.

I don't even know why. There are dozens of even worse pieces of shit out there who get even more attention etc. Probably because I thought he was actually good before I stated drawing myself.

The tracing scandal has very little to do with it.

All I see in him now, barring a couple of photo studies of environments etc, is 5 fucking years of the same picture of the same emotionless female face and he couldn't even do THAT without stealing from both media and other fan artists. It's a complete and utter lack of any sort of creativity that is for some reason tread as the opposite.

Those "cafe studies" that turned out to be photo studies of pictures from google were pretty pathetic too.

I personally know a couple of people who actually lived and worked with him before he got huge and they all showed disappointed in him because they thought he was way better than that. They all say that the guy CAN actually draw very well, which is clearly evident by the minority of his works, but he just chose to abandon all that for the sake of attention from the lowest common denominator.

It's sad that htis kind of thing works in real life and it's also pretty sad to see young artists looking forward to him because it's not the good kind of inspiration. It's the "whoa I want to get popular while being lazy piece of shit too" kind of thing.

I'm looking for books or something that cover as much of the most important/effective information/techniques about fundamentals as possible.

I've got the sticky and the stuff in pic so far.

It's just study traces, in a nutshell. Those faggy backers rewarded him immediately when he's not matured yet as an artist.

You don't publish traced work and expect to get positive feedbacks among the community with "keen artist eyes." An artist sees through a magician and even GOD. That's why most art theives get caught unless of course if they killed the source.

He's got style, textures brushes, and form but still lacking in character, story, even the colors don't fit in most of the time - try inverting the image's color (same with horizontal flip thingy). There's nothing to critique because those images were traced from someone else's published work AND people like you don't even have the courage to critique because you don't understand the "textured brushes blur and oversaturation" meme that's killing digital art. Even abstract art have more meaning than 'it looks good but this picture is not a thousand words' (not the scatological type of abstract art).

There's a saying that good artists copy but great artists steal.
Remember an artwork's value is never whole if it's just another clone/copy that's why the best ones steal that life and trap it within a frame that NO other artist can ever steal!
