YCH means "your character here" and doesn't show a finished painting. It's just an idea of how the finished product could look. We don't know what the usual quality of this artist is. And a starting bid of 50$ for a full painting is okay.

She's not wrong and I don't see any issues with this. Like she said, it's a hobby for her and she takes it casually and even encourages others to look for more and better resources. For not studying ever she has a surprisingly good idea about the basics of figure drawing and while I don't think this guide is especially helpful for hobbyist beginners, it's not like anything she teaches is inherently wrong.

Reminds me of my ''friends'' at Art School. They'd browse DeviantArt and laugh and talk shit about artists all day. Some of were genuinely bad and some of were clearly just hobbyists like that artist.

They'd criqitue people who drew better than them and the best joke is, they themselves aren't even that good. Quite bad actually for people that tryhard art a lot, at least more than average hobbyist. These people strive to do art for living. They have bought guides and shit, know many neat tricks in Photoshop I wasn't aware of.

They are delusional as shit. I guess that's what you get when you eternally live in some circlejerk hugbox where no one questions your art.

I quit hanging out with them once they stumbled upon my very close and important friend's DeviantArt, they'd once again talk shit about the art. I told them that she draws only for hobby and is aware that she isn't that good and even feels bad about that.

To this she said ''good, she deserves to feel bad''. I regret that I didn't verbally rip that stupid cow apart at the spot. I remained silent because I was too busy being shocked to hear something so fucking stupid. However I never contacted those people again after that, fuck them. They were so toxic that they almost ruined my motivation to draw. Jesus fucking christ why do people like that have to exist.

I didn't take a picture, but if you ever walk past local "artists'" studios that's a treat. One painting was so bad I stopped on the sidewalk and cursed the building out. It was worse than /beg/ and the snooty bitch had a fucking studio and was charging money. "Artists" these days expect to walk into a room fresh from nowhere, throw paint on a canvas, and sell it for a gorillion dollars. Because they have some "innate" "talent" or are channeling their "feelings" so are just gonna naturally be great.

How did she respond? I wish I had that courage, it's easier for me to articulate myself via text, not speech.
I feel like these are the kind of people that do not and never have responded well to criticism.

Also, funnily enough, at the museum I went to, there were literally 3 good pieces out of 50, maybe? I don't know what they are doing there. It's almost demeaning to the artists who worked hard, only to end up hidden away on the second floor next to drawings that look like they were made by children.

I took a look at the museum's opening hours on their site, and found that they had done a page stating the death of this person, Torbjörn Nolkrantz (Google him for more of his art). This was one of his works that had apparently been exhibited at the museum, but I don't remember seeing it. Must've taken it down.

^that was in a town in Sweden called Skövde, if I'm not mistaken. There are technically two art galleries, both inside a library, and his artwork was featured in the gallery called "Skövde Konstmuseum" (directly translates to "Skövde Art Museum").

It's a large town, but not exactly major. I would call getting any work on an official wall to be an accomplishment, though in this case, it doesn't feel like you have to do much to be featured on the walls of that gallery.
So, disregarding his skill level entirely, I don't personally feel like he made it.
