Thinking about joining it.

Any courses you would recommend?

>> No.2631410

On a year subscription so far and it's totally worth it. Paid for a character design intro class, but with five bucks I also got these schoolism dollars that basically allowed me to switch between courses throughout the semester. I'm waiting for October to come to finish my semester and pay for additional class on advanced character design, this time with the teacher rather than being self-taught. The benefit really of the subscription is that you can take as much time as you need and if you finish the class early you can just switch out and choose another.

learn your fundamentals first. i have a 3 year subscription and barely use it because i don't feel like i'm ready, but i did go through the character design courses by stephen silver and they had really good info.

can't say much about the courses but nathan fowkes, dice tsutsumi/robert kondo and terry whitlatch.. i have no doubt they have some great info in their courses from classmate feedback and that they're just great artists

thinking of saving of money for a few digital art courses proko, watts, etc
which ones are best to go through in a order?

Bought a subscription and found it really helpful since the lesson format gives me structure which I am incapable of providing for myself. I've only done the digital painting one so far but if the rest are the same quality or better I can easily see myself resubscribing.
If your an absolute beginner I'd recommend something like Drawabox though. From the look of the courses they do assume some sort of general art knowledge and draftsmanship.

It's good but only if you go through steps 1 and 2 in the sticky first. As this anon said here >>2633045 the teachers keep pounding in your head about form.

Having purchased all of the premium courses from Proko and maintained an NMA subscription for a while I think Proko is among the best art teachers on the internet right now, if not the best, thanks to his very clean charcoal drawing style and generous use of 3D models. Unfortunately his anatomy course isn't finished yet, but it's still well worth the price of admission. NMA is good too, but completely unstructured. .

Can't tell if this thread is memeing me or if it's really that good.
Anons paying for art tutorials ... and being happy about it? Sounds like paying for porn in the 21st century.

If you have a job 130 quid is nothing if you find actual benefit from it.

they paint over 3D models to set those light scenes

it's not as huge deal as someone would imagine without knowing the work process

everything are hacks

you mean tsutsumi/kondo?

I'm only 2 chapters into their lessons but they haven't mentioned anything about 3d. but either way, with what i've seen of their methods, they would only use it as a compositional device, not value/colour/lighting. not too different from an under sketch desu

Does their class require you to set up still lifes?
I interested in it but I don't really have any space where I can leave a still life for several days.
