What is the best type of pencils for drawing?
Also why some people are saying what mechanical pencils are bad for drawing?

You should use at least 5 types of pencils, ranging from the darkest Bs to the darkest Hs, so you can get different kinds of grays without depending on pressure

Mechanical pencils are inferior to the common ones

OP is drawn with mechanical right? Hard to imagine getting that line quality unless you sharpen pencil before every stroke

Personal preference, mostly. You should hold it comfortably and get darker values without adding too much pressure. It should be able to be sharpened into a smooth taper without chipping/breaking. Mechanical pencils don't allow you to draw with tone, which is very important. They are good for mechanical sketches tho (Scott Robertson etc).

The ability to control value should be within your fingers, not your tools. When practicing, switch pencils only when you're switching from drawing construction lines to lines that are actually visible.
