When you're since kindergarten with people always telling you, you would have talent, and all you Drawings would be awesome.
And nobody tells you a honest critic, i guess you just become more or less just blinded, and just think that since everyone near you, loves your work and think its awesome and you're super talented, everyone will think this way.
And i guess, her Mother did it in the kindest way possible, telling her that she shouldn't go to Art School because its not secure or whatever, to not tell her the truth and not hurting her feelings.

Plus, i bet she thinks that because its manga, she doesn't have to learn all that hard, anatomy etc..stuff, and its her "style."

As much as I wish I had started earlier in a way I'm glad that I got a late start at 24 because I've seen way to many people who started and kept drawing young who ended up like her because they didn't have the critical faculties to know how to learn and judge their own work. Of course there are many people who started and young and got really good and are much better for it, but I've seen a lot of the other type of people as well. I know I was like that at guitar and really struggled with knowing what or how to practice and basically hit a certain point then stopped improving and eventually gave it up except for a little noodling around these days.

But all these people will come to that Point, were reality just hits them, and they finally see that they are shit and need to learn all the realism, Anatomy, perspective etc..stuff to maybe get a job in an Art field that they wanted.
Because when they are Adults, people wont be watching out for there feelings anymore.

But luckily we have found /ic/, where people give a fuck about your feelings, and will tell you how to really improve.
And funny enough if it wasn't about /Ic/, i would still be here drawing shitty Manga characters like she does.
