even though I don't get off to pictures of cartoon people, I still save and follow porn artists because a lot of them are just that damn good.

too bad that a lot of them are pidgeonholed and wouldn't be considered for industry work because of the stigma against sex.

is it just cognitive bias, or that good artists rise to popularity more easily in porn circles, or what?

To do porn well you have to be good at drawing, know your anatomy and know how to stylise intelligently. There are no shortcuts or tricks, either you can draw well you you can't. Poorly drawn porn is also far more embarrassing to produce and look at than regular drawings in my experience.

Paul Richards is someone who is very upfront about his erotic work and also works on games like Halo.

Just because you draw porn doesn't mean you're a porn artist. Most artists that focus on porn aren't that good DESU. The porn market has pretty low standards in terms of what's actually fappable. But there are plenty of good artists that also happen to draw porn on the side.

Porn also forces you to draw interacting figures in all sorts of weird entangled positions which means lots of foreshortening and challenging drawing problems. You also have to think a lot about angles and composition so the naughty bits aren't obscured. I see a lot of people pretty much just draw single figures posing with a gun merc wip style
