These artists are tapping into a market that doesn't compete with anything you're doing or any potential market you're going into. How is it killing art?

You seem to have some naive worldview that by making thousands a month these artists are taking potential dollars from you. Unless you're making art that is directly competing against them in their niche market, which you aren't, how are their backers spending money on them going to hurt you? Even if you are in their market then it just comes down to who's the more appealing artists.

There is no massive pool of potential clients that we all share. Jay Naylor existing isn't taking a slice of some proverbial client pie from you. He is drawing from a very specific type of client that are looking for only a specific type of art. If he didn't exist they wouldn't pay you to make some chainmail bikini clad warrior princesses.

Having things like this out there HELPS other artists, even main stream artists, especially long term where it becomes more profitable for good artists to make money selling their own work rather than doing client work. Long term this could cause companies to raise their rates in order to attract top talent and thus raising rates for everyone else.

There is a poster who migrated here from /pol/ called maldraw, or just malaysia.

His "drawthreads" were banned from /pol/ since he just shills his patreon and shitty comic. He still posts there every once in a while trying to get more attention. Plus, every artist who unwittingly showed up was harassed by him.

He's since targeted /ic/ since this place is barely moderated. He uses proxies as well.


Since around late 2015, early 2016 he gets his rocks off by posting these threads about other random artists no one really actually knows or cares about. He enjoys shitting on them because it probably makes him feel better about his own failing patreon. You can go to the /ic/ archives and look up OPs with the filename "image.jpg" and a majority of the threads are carbon copies of this one, replacing a few variables every so often. You can also cross-reference some images/filenames to the /pol/ archives and see that it's the same person.

He is butthurt that any artist makes more money on patreon than him. He will target anyone who he perceives to be within his general skill level.

I am assuming he is butthurt because hardly anyone donates, and he's too poor to afford a tablet.

There's also drama involving him in fear of being doxxed if he uses Paypal. He frequently bitches about Paypal as well and how he can circumvent their ToS.

If you've ever read any of his threads you would understand why this person gets to much attention. It's unavoidable. If he isn't literally spamming links, he's shitting on people, causing drama, and making a fuss. He also brags about how "ingenious" he is and how he's "single handedly ruined /ic/"/

I noticed that a bunch of these threads have been popping up recently. Another person on here has already compiled an infograph of his posting on /pol/ and /ic/. It doesn't take but a minute to image search on the archives and find his posts. He doesn't try to hide it, I honestly think he likes the notoriety.


I honestly don't give a fuck about what this faggot chooses to do with his free time. I just really dislike seeing random artists getting spammed. It's making /ic/ a shittier place. I wish he would just go back to /pol/.

I mostly see him use American proxies. He might just be an American who uses a Malaysian proxy as something similar to a trip. Though his English is so bad I doubt he's a native not be a native speaker.


Someone has said his name is Mike, there have been photos dropped but I can't confirm that it's him. I know just around the time of day he posts around. It might be possible to determine a timezone to see if he's posting from either America or Asia.

I can also confirmed he's doxxed people. Whomever the shitposters is he's been shitting up /ic/ for the last year with threads of drama and artist bashing. I'm no artist and I'm still learning but I do know a person I talk to has been attacked a lot from this guy and possibly doxxed. I mean, there's always going to be some hipster who just loooves crowdfunding some dumb indie game that promotes tranny acceptance, but I'd say that the majority of people who use patreon are people who go in, pay money and expect to recieve a product in compensation, just like the grocery store. if patreon were filled with hippies who have a boner for communism and 'community', then the majority of the patreon projects would probably be things like chia seed farms or funding for obscure bands. whatever the trends are for hipsters these days

but in reality the majority of patreons involve very mainstream things, and involve creators asking for money to create products for consumers. 'pay me money, I'll give you a product,' be it a video game or youtube videos or a webcomic. and thats capitalism in its simplest form
