Sakimichan makes 665k a year through patreon alone. Is her art really that good?

>> No.2325249

Well she's better than me so I can't say much

I guess you missed the last thousand threads we had on exactly this topic this year.

Let's just get a few of the basics out of the way:

>She makes too much money.
>I wish I made that much money.
>She's a sellout.
>She's a good businesswoman.
/>ic/ is just jealous.
>No /ic/ just has standards.
>her anatomy sucks! Look at this example!
>she's better than 99% of /ic/!
>art is dead
>should I make a patreon?
>she just draws the same thing over and over
>Why hasn't Disney sued her yet?

The quality of her art isn't the reason she's successful. No shade though, If I could make that money doing nothing but fan art I would.

WHAT DOES SHE NEED 665K FOR?!
WHAT DOES AN ARTISTS EVEN DO WITH ALL THAT MONEY?!

She's a good artists and produces art that people

Also the fan-art genre doesn't have a great plethora of high quality talent and in that field she is one of the best.

>food, clothes, bills
Nigga you can pay all that and more with just 15% of what she's making.

>art utensils
She's strictly digital.

She's improving. I wonder if she'll do fanart forever and nothing else.

>> No.2325301

Nobody really -needs- more than like 30-40k. It doesn't matter if someone needs or deserves their income, only that they have the means to produce it. Sakimichan's income harms nobody, it's not like she's siphoning it from your taxes or something.

>> No.2325306

>>2325240
Yes.
There is no "really that good" in art. Just a "good enough".
Once you're good enough, it's all about networking, creativity, style and approachability.

/ic/ refuses to aknowledge this because even if they were technically better than her they lack everything else. And this brings down the whole house of cards around here.

I wasn't thinking money, but more so passion. I don't know about you, but I find working on projects way more fun than shitting out random illustrations. Which is why I had the thought. With the amount of money she's raking in, she could easily fund and setup some projects if she had the desire for it.

IMO She's not that good and she does the same thing pretty much 99% of the time. Plus, she only does fanart.

That being said, she's making enough money that she doesn't give a shit and why fix what's not broken? I'm jealous of hr but if I were in her position I'd probably do the same, like 95% of everyone here.

yeah but money can corrupt, she's got a nice gig going for her why risk it? I imagine whatever she does will probably have to fit around her Patreon commitments at first until either she finds herself enjoying it more and getting more money from it or she might move away from patreon set up her own website/art community sort of thing. She has the fanbase for it

Random lurker here that keeps seeing this popping up all the time. It has very little to do with her actual "art", and more so just the type of popular content her audience latches onto.
It's all about the money. Her lust for money really is a no-brainer:
- Look at her target audience.
- Look at how stupid most of them probably are with money.
- Look how how little they value money, to the point where they'll simply spend it on something popular if its part of a bandwagon.
- The artist sold out for money, and will probably never improve past this point (or actually be creative outside of copying things from popular culture) now that they've seen there is a demand for shit art.

Conclusions:
- The consumer sold out for short-term happiness via the consumption of parasitically regurgitated, popular content.
- The popular content is already self-marketed, so you don't even have to be a good business person to latch onto it, just a good parasite.

Both are equally shitty. This is the nature of shitty art that makes money. It's backed by equally shitty consumers.

She wouldn't have to put her patreon on hold to work on projects. She would just have to divide her time up neatly. Plenty of people have both a job and do side projects. It's not one or the other.

Why risk it you ask? I'd risk anything if I was bored enough. The better question is, will she get bored? How long can someone draw the same thing before they get tired of it? If she doesn't get tired of it, I guess it was her passion all along.

>> No.2325427

as much as I dislike the generic look she goes with, I can't help but admire how she manages her social media presence. I mean it's a full time job, but still. It's impressive. Just look at all those rewards. How do you even keep track of all that?

>> No.2325447

Here ill teach ic
>why does she make do much?
She must of been ONE OF THE FIRST pretty competent artists to jump into it. Also she's an average azn grill so she has that going her way.
>does she really need that much
He'll no, but she gets it anyway. Boohoo, go draw.

You need two of the following
>Be as good as her
>Draw fan-art of currently popular IPs
>Network as much as her
>Be as pretty as she is
>Be as fast as she is
>Be one of the first on a new platform

Note that she's not the best or even close to the best in any category but she's high in all so that's why she makes all that money.

Also

Luck is all that matters to success, you can ask any loser.
