How does one draw foreshortened figures from imagination with the right proportions?

All is good if it's just a simple poses like standing, sitting etc eye level but things I learn fall apart if I try to do a difficult angle. I don't want to rely on reference too much. How to overcome this problem?

It's actually quite clear what Kim's technique is if you look closely in his live drawing videos. If you look to Kim's mouth you can see him whispering to Satan

Sycra's coil technique is pretty useful to feel things out if you've already got the figure drawing skills. He's got a video somewhere.

But yeah. Learn to draw shapes in all perspectives. Learn to break the human figure into those shapes. Draw at leisure.

every time I try it it looks like ass, even guessing works better
