Duplicate your psds! At the start of the day (or if you take a long break), copy the PSD you're working on so that you have a backup. The next break, copy a new one and delete the outdated copy.

If you can find the right pencil sharpener you might be saved. I have one that has three holes--regular, oversize, and colour pencil. Quit learning from Loomis. The problem with Loomis is his style is so heavy and dated that beginner artists who learn the "loomis method" only learn how to draw LIKE loomis, which limits you to his personal 1920's brochure style of drawing. Give other figure drawing methods a try before taking on the advanced methods used by Loomis, and do them sparingly and with your own style. You can immediately tell when someone was copying Loomis' method because their heads look like they were traced right out of Fun With A Pencil.

is this true? I'm relatively new to drawing with tablet and have only used it with cs6 so far, but it aways feels a bit sluggish

A series of fuckups recently
>sketch up a single thumbnail and decide to go with it without making variants or looking at references
>fuck up the scale when transferring sketch to canvas so the composition gets awkwardly cropped but too lazy to fix
>gouache underpainting and placement goes fine
>painting with oils and only start noticing the texture from random specks and the shitty acrylic painting + gesso layer I did way back
>scraping it away only makes the texture more blatant

And just half an hour ago, I wrecked one of the faces that had a decent underpainting I was happy with. I can only hope to redeem myself tomorrow.
