I'm starting FZD in June. This is my current level & everyone is better than me.
How can I prepare the next month to do great despite being me?

Current plan:
>mornings
Give myself design prompts, draw pen to paper
>afternoon
Read random non-fiction books from the library, study stuff like different cultures and architecture.

>going to FZD
Shiggy.
Don't listen to Feng tzu, you need to learn anatomy, study animals cars and planes. Learn to draw first and render later

Get ready to lose sleep. Turn your work in on time. And stay away from drama.

>How can I prepare the next month
Just draw and draw a lot. The school will tell you what to do and in the beginning, drawing is pretty much all you're gonna do. I will say to read up on as much perspective as you can before going in.

Also, Feng can be a bitch sometimes.

>you need to learn anatomy, study animals cars and planes. Learn to draw first and render later
Pretty much what the school does.

Most of his fundamentals is based on perspective, which is what he knows best. Lately he seems to have dropped it a bit so it might be a bit more diverse now.

Looking at your art you're probably right about being worse than any others. Just put all the hours in and make the money worth and you'll do fine.

I suggest you spend your time learning Krav maga unless you want to get mugged there. Also Perspective and Analytical Figure Drawing.

man, fzd and live in singapore eats up so much money. How the heck can you afford that? I can't even afford moving out of this village.

I dont get the point of going to FZD with your level. Its like paying a small fortune to go to olympic runner school when you just started learning to walk.

From what I've seen a lot of entry portfolios are around his skill level and, because of how intense the program his, a lot of students come out bretty good.

One of the things about having a portfolio is that they just get to see where you are. Once you get studying and accomplishing tasks with that school you will definitely get better because you can address your weakness and tackle them faster.

Also getting into schools really isn't that hard, for shits and giggles I applied to Art Center and Gnomon, got accepted into a two year at Gnomon, and AC. I'm probably behind OP.

Thats not the point. You can improve on your own from the OP's skill level to industry entry level without any problems and then pay professionals to train you further. Now youre wasting their time/your money on them teaching you the total basics that you could learn by yourself easily.

Honestly some people need the structure first of school to push them and realize where they need to be. As well as you can get some good networking with a good school.

You really fucked up.

I've met plenty students from there and almost all been either really angry. Some older students have said it was worth it for the ones that were already good because they were able to make connections on a more emotional level with their teachers that were getting treated like shit by Feng Jew.

There's nothing really there now and if you're at this skill level Feng is going to make you hate what you do. If you go there to learn you're going to have a bad fucking time in and out of school. Feng is going to make you learn now to "draw" in his style and artists outside of his school are going to laugh at you and mock you behind your back at cons because they know how much of a faggot he is. I say cons because they'll never hire a second rate Feng. They'll want the real deal if it ever came down to it. And you'll be stuck doing things like he does unless you try extremely hard to develop your own style then it would have been otherwise.

If you can't get a refund you might as well fucking kill yourself now.

>> No.2064628

>>2064601
op is still gonna accelerate their progress, even if they have to imitate feng. beside it's not like op will be stuck there forever, it's just one year

>> No.2064646

>>2064601
The hate trains begins. Though you are right for a school like FZD you have to already have your fundamentals in working order, otherwards you wont know what questions to ask. Though on the other hand Feng is an "industry" rockstar much like Anthony Jones and you will reap the benefits of being one of his students. Networking, GDC, Siggraph, and a much better jumping off point than a lot of artists.

Live with parents for 5 years, save 50-80% of income, dollar cost average invest in an index fund. I had the luck that parents didn't ask any contribution for staying at Hotel Mamma.
Also minimalist lifestyle: no phone, no car, no television, no cinema, ...

you'd probably be better off going to watts atelier and it'd be cheaper.

what I'd say is practice figurative work, hes good at environments and hard surface stuff butt his figures seem to be mediocre, so if thats what you want to do you will have to learn it on your own for the most part.

Also your pic looks like you put almost no effort into it. I'd say that makes it look more shit than anything to do with you being low skill level.

This seriously got accepted into the Entertainment Design program at AC? I thought they were really picky about accepting people? Not to be mean, but this stuff is not at what I would consider a level nearly good enough to get in.

Has the program gone downhill or something? Are all the good prospects just doing other cheaper schools or online classes instead now?

Pretty much cheaper online classes, but Im guessing this anon would have to start from ground zero with the rest of accepted students
