art means different things to different people at different times. its meaning has evolved over the centuries, and even today the word is used to describe several different (but related) concepts.

what is a "pointless thread?"

Literally anything can be art. This post is art. Look at how I keep punctuation in tact. Look at how the words form a sentence that can be comprehended and judged. The overall design is absolutely worthy of seminal discharge.

go to the louvre, this painting is fucking huge....barely sticks out of the hundred paintings that are plastered all over the walls just next to it. Just one more masterpiece painting on the wall. When everything is a master piece, your brain just doesn't care anymore.

Art is just a word. An abstract idea. An immaterial construct. Something that nobody can agree on how to define because it's constantly expanding in scope but it really doesn't exist and is pointless to define or contemplate.

I would say the most basic nature that unifies "art", however, is that it's a presentation of subjective expression.
