So far I've taken figure drawing, Drawing 1 +2, Painting 1, Design, Color and Comp, and 3d Design.

I'm going to try and start to assemble my portfolio soon and will be touching up the images from the last year's of work.
I'll be posting images here for some critique as I start to assemble my Portfolio. Comments and suggestions welcome as well.

Is this portfolio for getting work or for getting into an art school? Because the two will have very different things included in them. Also to be quite frank, these aren't yet near a professional level where you can make money off it. If you want to work professionally, work first on your skillset before worrying about your portfolio.

I feel like I need direction: What sort of studies should I work towards? I've been told I'm terrible at expression and I'm starting a small project at stylizing and cartooning characters to practice some more 'expression' based art with body language and faces. Should I be working in stylized art or do more traditional studies and try to create master works and photo studies and light logic?

These are definitely not professional quality OP. Sloppy values, edges, bad composition, bad color choices, hardly any sense of perspective or depth.

I would go into hermit mode for at least another couple of years and really grind the fundamentals and expand your visual library as well.

The commissioner asked I put a censor and flip the image for the reverse side of the image. They get printed on to pillow cases to my understanding. Professor said line quality was good with the overlapping. Not happy with Aj's color pallet. Though I have drawn worse for $ I would rather not draw adult content with such characters. I'd much rather move away from that and make art for the sake of enjoyment that can be a bit more age appropriate for such styles. I want to progress to where I can create content people enjoy and make some thing that will affect others in a positive manner. That said anything relating to that specific fandom well when I was a kid I only used to draw horses and ponies when I was 4-7. I still enjoy the style from the show and do things for personal light satire of it all... In all honestly all fan bases are not with out their disappointments. Pic relevant to text

Honestly I think your biggest problem is your terrible taste in everything, you should work on that first and foremost otherwise it's kind of pointless giving you advice.
But I'll bite anyway, you should be doing anything and everything, no one exercise is better than another they are all important, so draw a face from imagination, get some refs, correct it. then try it the other way around, study a photograph, then try to recreate it from imagination, draw it upside down, draw it inside out, draw it with no skin on do TRY EVERYTHING.

That value study was done before the master works and hardly has the same amount of work. I re did the bust on paper first at least 15 times before moving on. there are still mistakes in the nose that drive me nuts. I'll start doing more studies and post them when done.

are you aware that horses have horizontal eyes?

Horse tails also actually have some meat in them too. I suggest seriously studying horses as you seem to like them so much. Maybe go to a farm or something.

Also, practice painting something without having to rely on outlining the form. The uniform edges in >>2056462 combined with the photobashing cheapens the entire piece. Learn about lost and found edges.

Your portfolio needs more life paintings too, especially still lives.
