Let's practice texture!

Draw the assigned texture on the cylinder.

Complete as many as you can.

Are you serious?
That artist couldn't even conform his textures to the cylinder form. Almost half of them aren't even cylinders.

Lrn to find better examples.

do you have to do this from imagination or can you use reference?

i think you might of thought i was being sarcastic when i wasn't.

i think they're terrible, and i think it's extra terrible because the artist was also trying to show off. painting a whole skull, anime girl body etc. just to be clear.

wtf are these people coming to /ic/ for ? "show off ? not even cylinder shape" ? why the hell are you even posting ? fucking parasytes.
at least OP is trying to start something and be productive, unlike you faggots who probably can't even do the simplest one.

>painting a whole skull instead of a single part of a single bone is a bad thing.

ignore these retards op, I love these threads. keep it alive.

There's nothing that says the texture needs to make a perfect cylinder. The only thing here is to draw the texture. That's the practice. Rendering. Not cylinders.

well the only way it would benefit me is if people find it interesting. i can already do it, i wouldn't like learn anything particularly. but it would bring me joy and solace if it interested some anonymous slubs.

Everything is hard edged, in fact there isn't a single soft edge in that entire picture, except for the cast shadow. I feel if it had more edge variety, which happens to appear commonly from not working too much in a specific area, it would feel more lively. I think he realized this at some point and tried to use gaussian blur in some places, but it doesn't really make the desired effect.

Of course this is just my opinion.

>>2031863
I agree, for a matte painting this is perfect practice.

This is right
Being able to paint the texture on a specific surface helps you analyze how the texture would fit in that situation. It's okay to go over a bit like making beer bubble or strands of hair pulling out but keep within the boundaries.

I think one thing you could improve on is introducing more colors into your work. Leaves are green yeah, but their hightlights aren't necessarily a lighter green, they can have a yellow hue or some blue or brown in the shadows. A little color variety can add interest to your drawing.
