Girls develop their motor skills at a faster pace than males (it's a fact). So while men are spending their latter years developing their motor skills to be more proficient in laying down strokes, women achieve this MUCH sooner given the same test conditions.

Besides, that's not Godmode. Godmode is reserved for the male artists who had to learn and hone their motor skills, rather than let it come naturally to them.

that's the thing that bothers me. She's totally capable of doing amazing art, but she chooses not to most of the time because she just does what she wants. That lighthearted fucking attitude, man. She doesn't even try to show her greatness. She mostly does those doodles, and yet she's capable of doing awesome coloring jobs like on that gay ass.

You can't deny that that gay ass is concept art tier.
Give her one more year and she'll be JessiBeans level.

Skill is not measured by the handicap you had or had not when you started. According to your logic, the best female soccer player is automatically considered better than the best male soccer player because technically, the woman isn't as strong as the male physically. Nobody cares. In reality, in a match the male player will anihilate the female player. And that's what people care about in the end - Results. Noone cares about your background, handicaps or advantages you might had.

started with 3d

or really, in printmaking people have been printing with intentional bad registration for a while.

but in the computer guy drawing world it started with 3d renders where a lens' focus is simulated, chromatic aberration is a lens effect. i guess 3d guys thought it looked cool an abused it, and then 2d guys thought they could abuse it too, to make their stuff look more photographic, or really, more like a 3d render.

Stop being a whiny little bitch and deal with it. You have two options, struggle through to achieve what you want most, or give up. They are your only options. Yes their are those who are drawing and painting proficiently at younger years, but they went through their 'difficult years' too, just younger. Remember anon, you can either power through, or quit. But do you want your story to be about the guy who had everything handed to him, never struggled and had an easy boring life, or do you want your story to be about the guy who never gave up, never surrendered, no matter how hard things got?

I actually laughed. Even if it is true; men also has advantages: (Source is me being a biology mayor and using non-english sources, try and look up specific sources yourself)

Men have an easier time working systematically, with actions, and objectively, instead woman are more affected by emotions.

Men have lower willpower (if it is not trained), while womans willpower (if it is not trained) is higher (although during during menstruation willpower is basically drained all the time, leading to self-indulgence).

Males also have better spacial orientation on 2d-planes than females.

I could go on and on about gender differences, how woman sometimes are better than males and the other way around.

You want to know what actually matters?
Fucking practicing, sit down, draw, that's it.

I think that's not an /ic/ tendency, that's just a human tendency. People always want to find reasons for their lack of success / ability that are not they themselves.

People want to feel like their mediocricy is justified and that others are only better because they are lucky. Similarly, people justify that others are worse off because they somehow deserve it. This is especially prevalent in American culture, where the whole "you can do it if you only really try!" thing is so deeply rooted, that there is a big tendency to feel like poor or unsuccessful people deserve it for not trying hard enough.

There are some examples of people starting late and making it pro, but you need to realize that A) this is unusual, B) it takes longer than 3 years, and C) they usually didn't have full other responsibilities. Brad Rigney gets mentioned a lot, I think he started in his thirties? Forget the exact age. But his wife took care of all the bills and it took him like a decade of hard work (he works HARD, like 8 to 18 hours a day) to reach a level where he was making serious money. The other big name late started is Min Yum, who began sometime around 26 I think. But I don't know the details of his life other than that.

I can at most give it 8 hours a day. I work a day job, so something crazy like 18 daily is right out.
So I guess there's pretty much no chance I'll make pro starting at 26? I figure if I have the abilities at ~35 it won't matter much due to lack of work experience?
I really couldn't start before, that kinda sucks now.

>> No.2023203

Yeah Rigney had some alcohol problems. Think he went to AA? Anyways, he got clean, realized his life was shit, and decided to pour every ounce of energy into his art.

>> No.2023208

>>2023202
Well Rigney only works stupid hours like 18 a day when trying to hit a deadline. The first jobs he was getting he got paid around 100$ each...and he would take over 100 hours on a painting. It also took him a decade partly because he figured out most things on his own since the same resources we have now online weren't available back then.

If you can hit 8 hours a day then that's plenty. I doubt you can though, at least not at first. It's crazy hard to have the self discipline to work a full 8 hours each day on art. If you can manage hitting like 2 or 3 hours a day for a couple years you can get pretty good, and by then you will have the discipline to be able to bump it up more to say 4 or 5 hours a day or whatever and just keep going. Study smart though.

And realize there is nothing inherently different about an 18yo putting in 8 hours daily and a 26yo doing the same. The main difference is that the 26yo probably has more responsibilities in life such as bills, rent, a family, a job etc that make it tougher to put in those 8 hours, and they are more likely to have the "I'll never make it" attitude that you are clinging to.

Of course it's unusual. But that's because people usually already have an established career at that age and don't just start up something completely new. It has nothing to do with that your brain suddenly shuts down in your mid 20s and you are unable to learn, you fucking retard.

Not everyone can get great art art, but the level of skill you need to "make it" is ridiculously low and anyone with a working brain can easily do that at any age as long as they don't suffer from dementia or other age related mental diseases.

I'm not OP and I certainly wouldn't call it god mode either, but understanding the basics is all you need to create good art. There's no reason to be fancy just for the sake of being fancy. Just understand how form works, where the sharp, cast shadows go and where the soft form shadows are and the specularity of the material you are rendering. 99% of /ic/, you included, is unable to do that and most try to hide their lack of knowledge behind shitty "painterly" wannabe Jaime Jones brush strokes.

It's dependent on how much time you spend and how you spend it.
Some people can dedicate 12 hour every day for six months and focus on improving, they will get good fast (Sinix)
Someone working for 2 hours every day for 3 years for fun will not improve nearly as fast. (Most artists)

>> No.2023266

>>2023257
Well it depends on your definition of what "good" is. And it depends how many hours a day you are putting in over those years. So it is very variable (and some people learn more quickly than others too, or do more efficient studying etc).

That being said, 2 years is a bit short, unless you are doing like 12 hours a day insane progress. 7 is a reasonable number to go from noob to solid pro.

2 years is definitely not a lot of time. Of course it all depends on what's your current level of drawing + how many hours you pull into it + if you study efficiently.

A lot of people say five years is a good estimate assuming you put sevearl hours a day and work smart, assuming you're just a beginner/just picking up the fundamentals properly.

3 hrs = 1095 end of year

4 hrs = 1460 end of year
