Ears are a very important landmark to the head as it helps describe the orientation, the perspective, the tilt and what it is doing in space. It is also a landmark used to proportion the bottom of the nose to the brow line but in this case since it is stylized it would be slightly below the brow line closer to the top of those lifeless and bland eyes.

Hiding ears can arguably be the same as hiding hands it is a critical landmark.
