The argument is he traced, when confronted by the fact that none of his work appears to be traced, just copied decently, the argument suddenly changes to "You're getting stuck up on the word tracing, you clearly don't understand the hidden meaning".
So it can't be proved he traced, and the people saying he traced admit that trace is the wrong word, BUT THEN THEY KEEP ON SAYING IT. So then they change it to "traced/copied" as if that was any better.
Then you get "He didn't even mess with the BG of the animation, he LITERALLY took the background and just blurred it". Then the goal post changes to "I clearly meant painted over, as that is the ONLY HUMANLY POSSIBLE WAY he could have made that 6 frame animation with a stagnant background".

But of course, the argument changes again to "Well it's not so much that he traces, it's that he's making money off of it". first of all, I'm not one of those attacking kr0n but also I don't condone what he's doing just telling that other guy not to waste his time in doing something time intensive just for the sole purpose of witchunt.

This person obviously knows how to colour and render very well. His version of OP image is tons more interestingly done than the original. The pictures don't align up exactly the same so he probably doesn't trace - just eyeballs. He just has no fantasy in his subject matter and must copy something that already exists. It's pretty sad.
