There is literally nothing to be gained from it. As a semi-pro myself, I pray every day that I DON'T find my art posted on /ic/. It's one of the things I have fucking nightmares about. Trust me, no pro will ever want to be noticed by /ic/, even those who used to be part of this community like Tehmeh. Maybe some day if you too get better at art, you will understand why.

I'm just telling you how it is. Every pro I know and talk to is kind of afraid of this place. You are considered a group of obsessive stalkers. No one, and I really mean NO ONE, working in this industry wants to be noticed by this place. There is just nothing to be gained from it. If people want to advertize their shit, they go to facebook or tumblr. /ic/ just has nothing to offer for professional artists.

I really have never gotten an answer to this question, but maybe someone can finally tell me: WHAT do you believe a professional artist can gain by advertizing his work on /ic/? Also, if you were a professional, would you do it?

There's a huge difference between an artist posting his own work for criticism here and some jackass posting someone else's work asking shit like "why is this guy even popular." That shit happens all the goddamn time here to artists like sakimichan, kron, genzoman, etc. There isn't even any decent discussion of the artist's flaws in those threads, it's mostly "lel they're fucking pandering shit" bashing that reeks of amateurish low self confidence.
