Either this or the soundtrack to a movie/game. Hotline Miami for instance, has a really killer soundtrack.

I never read poetry but one day when I was drawing a playlist popped up for spoken word poetry and it was pretty sick. Normally I just listen to instrumental stuff though.

Don't really have a specific music choice I draw to. But I guess it's usually KoRn, since that's all I have in my music folder at the moment.

I usually start off with Tool in the morning to get me going. I call it my daily dose of Jambi.
After that I usually go to electronic music to keep the ball rolling. Cant let off the hype train.

Lazerhawk, Daft Punk, Knife Party is what I've been listening to a lot lately.
I like to throw in some slow shit especially when I'm drawing during the night.

>> No.1819201

Basically - if you're studying - you wanna keep your mind on what you're studying exclusively, so having simple "background" sounds to listen to (e.g. Erik Satie's "furniture music") for concentration can benefit your studying experience.

Classical (minimal), ambient, drone, and prog-synth music is best for studying at a low volume (speakers).

Other music such as neo-classical, chillwave, folktronica, UK garage, etc. can wait until you're working on an illustration.

Yup, especially when the song has a vocalist. Your mind will be focusing on two sets of words at once.

>> No.1819244

>>1819240
You could just ignore the words and listen to the vocals as an instrument, if the vocals aren't too in your face. But I'm the kind or person who doesn't pay attention to lyrics in the first place.

As for what I listen to... A lot of electronic, classical, orchestral, and instrumentals in general. OSTs from games and animes are usually nice since they're meant as BGM to begin with.

Drawing while listening to music.

God Tier: Instrumental ambient music with no lyrics (Biosphere, Tim Hecker, Lustmord, etc.)

Okay Tier: Electronic music and music that doesn't focus too much on lyrics (Cult of Luna, Ulver, Aphex Twin, Moderat, Burial, etc.)

Shit Tier: Music with a lot of lyrics, it's harder to focus.

Tryhard Tier: No music at all, only no fun allowed artists do this.
