Is Murata possibly the best artist of this decade?

Oh man, I ejaculate all over my screen every time he does that kind of stuff for OPM. His skill is definitely over the top, he's like, perfect, but I personally think he lacks a bit of "uniqueness" to his style to be the best artist of this decade. More interesting and unique shapes are something that I think his drawings lack, but it's still pretty fucking amazing. Skilled as fuck.

Murata had no say in the character design.
The entire manga (plot/characters/everything) is based off of the original onepunch man by ONE, who originally created the webcomic and draws like a 10 year old (hes actually pretty good now, but obv not on murata level)

I was actually thinking of this today though op, he is definitely one of the greatest.

also NEW CHAPTER AUG 7
4 MORE DAYS

>> No.1799432

Greatest has to go to Kim Jung Gi. The guy is literally some sort of drawing savant.

No references. No base shapes. Starts with shading and negative space.

It's almost scary and unreal

But, that's how Murata works. Murata does a quick sketch and then immediately begins inking.

>> No.1799500

>quick sketch
And that's what KJG doesn't do.

And that's one of the main reasons why he's incredibly popular; he draws well without any preliminary drawings.

>> No.1800189

When I said "No base shapes" I meant "No sketches". He literally starts off inking. I still don't know how he sometimes starts with negatives and shadows and then draws the figure afterwards. Not to mention he jumps around like crazy. The fact things are even proportional when he'll draw a part of a body, then a gun being held, THEN the arm holding it is crazy

No matter what YOUR preferences are you cant say with a straight face that anything related to manga, anime, whatever, could be even considered to be the among the top art of the decade.

It might be good compared to other manga, but its still utter shit objectively.

>> No.1809374

>>1809367
You can easily say that with a straight face. There's nothing inherently inferior about those mediums/genres/whatever that hinder them from producing something great.

If >>1797166 is right, calling this guy garbage or shit is objectively wrong in every perspective.

>> No.1809391

How much is Murata getting paid? Is he doing OPM as a hobby?

because holy shit, doing it all by himself

The only difference between manga and any other art piece, is that it follows a plot, and is in some way influenced by japanese culture.

The examples backing op's statement are not in panel form, or un-colored like most manga.

What makes Murata talented, is (or is more than) what makes any other amazing artist talented. Manga has no place in this, as we are not even discussing his panel based art.

also i like how you learnt all these new buzzwords from 4chan but you dont know what they mean, so you just randomly throw them in. learn objective vs subjective.

What does it matter what the artist sells his talent to? The point is that he's a great artist himself, not that anime is the high point of culture.
