conte is kinda different though, bit more on the chalky side than pencils and pens. i suppose if no one minds, i'll post some conte stuff along with whatever pencil pics i have.

From what I remember Franklin Booth worked fairly slowly and would start at one corner of the image and steadily work his way across. Not sure how long each image would take, but I imagine it would be rather painstaking. Iirc he was the highest paid illustrator of his time though and living in a mansion and making fortunes when most people were struggling during the great depression.

Looks very similar to Henry Yan's work. Did Henry Tennant study on the West Coast ever?

I suppose it could just be that you can only draw the figure with so many lost edges, charcoal, and rubbing before it looks similar.
