This is a rip off of a batman picture where he benches while talking to some ugly chick. I know this because I remember thinking about how retarded his form was.

Nah, it's not copied from batman, at least from what I can find via google searches. And the form look okay to me? The feet on books may not be the best idea but otherwise it's okay.

yeah, /ic/ is a big surprise..

Ok, i'll try to help you the best I can. What level are you at? Beginner? Intermediate?
Can't say anything about 3d çoz I'm lost myself there.
Also look at youtube channel from other artists...they're pretty good resource.
Here's my recommendation-
Get all the art of (games, movies, etc) books you can (maybe I'll list what I like later), tutorials from Gnomon related to the subject, Massive black (Jason's & Marko's)(from rutracker), The Skillful Huntsman, Ballistic artbooks, Alla Prima, Color & Light by James Gurney, Nathan Fawkes Schoolism classes, New Masters Academy tuts& of course books mentioned on the sticky.

That should keep you busy.
Also check out the artists in the artist folder sharing thread->>1756335

Hope that helps

I may be at lower intermediate or upper beginner now that I think about it.
And well, thanks anon! I didn't know Alla Prima was there. And I've been downloading a lot o resources of the sharing thread as well.

Gnomon videos on environments are all dead tho, as well as Alla Prima, and there's just one MB vid. It's a pity, but James Gurney is up, as well as the new masters academy tuts. I guess I'll be downloading them and some artbooks on the meanwhile. I'll wait for your list tho, based anon

>> No.1763971

>>1763951
You can get some MB Vids from Rutracker. if Alla Prima is dead I'll upload it later for you. Also I missed these- Framed ink & Books by Scott mcCloud. Also get 2d Artist, Imagine FX, & 3d Artist mags. They're not like super helpful but they're worth browsing & reading interview & shit when you're bored or stuck at something particular like painting skin or some shit like that.

>I may be at lower intermediate or upper beginner now that I think about it.

Well then, it looks like you're trying to do too much at the same time, i don't know you but if you're intermediate I suggest divide & conquer. For instance, just nail anatomy to a proper level (not perfect) before doing character design. Coz when you have lil understanding how the human figure work you can apply the same principles /functionality to your design. Also doing too much shit at the same time will take you longer to learn even one one thing to presentable level. Hope that makes sense. I'll post my list of fav artbooks later.

would you mind giving me some directions in here? I don't get Russian at all. I will download the other videos and mags as well.

I think I've nailed anatomy to a proper level so far. I've even tried some character design (although all I have to show are this cosmetics for a certain character of a certain game)

>Also doing too much shit at the same time will take you longer to learn even one one thing to presentable level. Hope that makes sense.
Yes, it does. I've felt overwhelmed for quite a long time thanks to all the resources I've been gathering, but I know have to organize myself.

These are my personal favs. Your taste might differ from mine, so be aware of that. I actually dl everything I can regarding e book. If I find it useful I keep it, otherwise into the trash it goes.
While you are at rutracker, do get the videos by Richard Schimdt. Very rare to find.

>Well then, it looks like you're trying to do too much at the same time
Not op, but a beginner here. Can you please give opinion on what to work on chronologically? like anatomy->values->gesture->figure drawing
smth like that, because i don't have a clue what to learn first

>> No.1764077

>>1764072
What would you like to be able to do? Paint spaceships? Draw landscapes? See what techniques interest you. Maybe you really like colors, but don't feel like investing time in form. Well, then just do a lot with colors. There isn't really an order to do things in. Then you might ask what the most effective strategy is to learn it all. Well, there are no shortcuts. Do the best you can, see what you failed at, train what you failed at, if you want to improve that. Critique will point out what you failed at and how you can fix it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I think learning art means.

>> No.1764080

>>1764072
I'm not the best person at this, but I'd say- Perspective-> gesture-> anatomy-> lighting/form/value(how to shade the figure)-> figure drawing-> color-> design-> and so on. Do remember as you progress forward, you also sometimes need to go back & practice old shit.
>inb4 practice gesture EVERYDAY
This is how I did it. You don't need to be super gr8/perfect at one thing to move on to the next but get a gud understanding before moving on. For instance, I can plot complicated perspective but it'll take me very long coz I don't do it much, but I CAN do it coz I have studied the fundamentals. At least the basic fundamentals. Also always have fun, if you're not having fun, you'll burn out soon.

Also I'm primarily a character guy, so don't know abt other shit like Industrial stuff.

>inb4 you ask abt more fundamentals, consult sticky. If confused then ask.
