How to deal with bad drawings? I sat here for nearly an hour trying to draw, must have erased the head at least 50 times, when I attempted stuff besides the head it came out equally bad and eventually I just got frustrated and put my paper away.

It's really disheartening, when over and over I LOOK at the picture I'm studying and see the shape and know how it needs to be but I just can't get it. Laying out my shapes beforehand and everything just looks way too fucking bad.

Now I've just got a page covered in scratches and smudges with no drawing and a big bowl of fucking mad.

When this happened to me years ago I just drew geometric forms in perspective. All in the same perspective, try to compose a scene with simple geometric forms, and progress from there to more complex forms. Then try to define a light and put some value on. If you can't do that from imagination, you'll probably struggle a lot to work on more organic forms.

This reminds me of a father and a son drawing I drew years ago. They were hugging eachother, but because I didn't think of my pose or anything in particular while making the drawing I accidently drew the father's arm and hand too big. It's bad overall... First of all the concept is pretty common. Nothing stands out in the composition.
The girl face doesn't match the perspective, or she has that inverted chin.
Their bodies are so twisted that looks like they're models doin a catwalk, the pose isn't natural at all... Its clear he did model for the character and took a photo of what would look like if he was walking, instead of capturing the photo while really walking.
The male feet is tiny and the rendered hair chest looks like a mess.
But what strikes me the most is the boring composition and ugly woman face.

It's actually an extremely innovative painting. The sfumato technique (foggy background to portray distance) was ahead of its time. It's also one of the first Renaissance portrait to portray a normal peasant girl gazing back at the viewer. Leonardos also started the trend of portrait with composition that cuts off below the hand (I don't know if it started with his Mona lisa, but he only did 4 or 5 femalr portrait painting in his life so it certainly helps with the influence)
Overall, I don't think any other Renaissance painting (or even modern) was done with that kind of subtlety. I don't find the subject of painting itself beautiful honestly, but the skills in the rendering of the figure is the best

I've wondered this myself a few times. There is the matter of the conspiracy as far as who the painting is really of, and it apparently wasn't as popular until the 20th century, so it could be attributed to the modern love of gossip and speculation. I took the rest of my concern to wikipedia and I found a couple noteworthy details;

It was painted with apparent influence from some other works, especially paintings of Madonna (pictured), and the more connections you can make with something, the more it sticks in your head and the more you like it. Like how fanart usually gets more views.

"The woman appears alive to an unusual measure, which Leonardo achieved by his new method not to draw the outlines, "mainly in two features: the corners of the mouth, and the corners of the eyes"" I googled 16th century art to see what it was standing up against. The Mona Lisa looks outstandingly human in comparison, and if you look at it thinking about the subject rather than the skill involved, you can really imagine sitting across from her at a party or something, and you can't say that for a lot of paintings of the time period.
So maybe the painting's fame has less to do with the painter's general skill level and more to do with the level of humanity it conveys. Or maybe I'm sentimental. Either way, what happened was probably that enough people were entranced by it that the people around them started parroting their praise until eventually everyone knew the Mona Lisa was 'the best' without really looking at anything else. That's just my opinion, though.

But even if it was Japanese, sometimes they'll use words from other languages and keep the spelling, maybe putting it in a compound word or phrase, in which case CARAMELだんせん would make perfect sense. At least to the untrained eye. Not sure if 'dansen' makes a word in Japanese.
