>purchasing sai brushes
shit nigga what are you doing, you could get all the brushes you want for free in photoshop.

>> No.1704732

Haha! Didn't know that. Not sure if it applies, but I bought them from a user from deviantart at $18. I drag the brushtex, elemap, ect. To the ones in sai folder but I don't have a bunch of brushes like the reader shows. It would be really helpful if someone could help me through it step by step

>> No.1704780

Is this the wrong place for this? Bumping..

you got scammed. 18$ for brushes is insane considering you can make your own in 3 minutes if you know how to use photoshop just a little bit.

>> No.1704801

So I've been told. But I'm not worried about it. $18 isn't a big deal. What is, is how this damn thing is set up. No matter what I do, nothing happens. Can any of you tell me how to get it to work? The YouTube vids are all shitty, and I can't wrap my head around it. Users on a few other sites look at my post but don't answer

>> No.1704831

Really? No one can help a nigga out?

>> No.1704854

Just ask the guy selling them? He will need the feedback if his packaging is broken or hard to understand.

Sorry I'm not of much help.

And lol at all the idiots who talk about making brushes in Photoshop. You are dumb.

>> No.1704859

They're from mldoxy. He/she is pretty famous around deviantart and sells the brushes to a lot of people, so I'm sure it isn't broken. It's just that I'm no good at this and often times I hear its difficult to install compared to photoshop. But I will message mldoxy to see if they can help me out. Thanks for responding!

>> No.1704915

There was an application that just lets you drag and drop brushes to install them but it's so old it might not be compatible with whatever version it is now

for manual installing all I remember is that you need to manually put the bmps into the whatever map folder and then type in the names in one of the conf files through notepad or any text reader.

yeah were so dumb. That's why I have dozens of custom brushes I threw together for sai

Op you got scammed. that's what you get for trusting dA

>> No.1705283

if it looks like stuff that has blue crosshair
-put it in elemap folder
-open brushform.conf
-type "2,elemap\(brushname).bmp" for each brush you add
ex: 2,elemap\Fine_Pointy.bmp

all done, open sai then you should see it at (simple circle) drop down box

No, you are dumb because you miss the point of the thread to brag how cool and edgy you are. $18 to not waste my time learning leet skills? Yeah, I'm in.

>> No.1705324

18 dollar is a stupid lot for brushes, I've never seen them that expensive. There are a lot of free ones around from professionals rather than gimmicky stuff made by people who don't know how to paint. Even paid ones are usually no more than 5 dollars.

As much as I like SAI, the brush import system is atrocious. There's an explanation halfway this tutorial: http://algenpfleger.deviantart.com/art/SAI-Tutorial-67196095

There's nothing cool and edgy about learning how to actually use the program and the brushes you're working with. I seriously hope you're trolling.

$18 is chump change to the delusional kids that still live with mom out there.

But truthfully anon, making a brush in photoshop is easier than applying a layer mask or changing levels on a drawing. You just need a new document, about the size of the brush you want to make, and draw a shape, it can be round, square, triangular, or organic inkblot. From there you make the brush and when it's made, you can modify the brush settings, add textures, change the shape size spacing. $18 could have been better spent on a set of copics or something.

$18 isn't a big deal guys. Rather than telling me that I got what I deserve, or that I wasted my money(can't really take it back now) it would be more helpful if you could explain how to solve the problem. Also I got brushes, textures, and a few more things if that helps stop you guys from cringing at my terrible spending lol

What are the cross hair things called? I can't find them but I had them before. Using search to locate files, so I need the name

>> No.1705457

>>1705444
Op again. Like I have the brushes(circular, stringy, ect.) in bmp form, but I can't find those pictures now. Should I just manually type those in as elemap2 and whatnot?

>> No.1705483

Yeah I think I might've figured it out, except for finding the shapes of the brushes. Can't seem to find the crosshair pictures anymore

>> No.1705490

>>1705483
Nevermind. Found the cross hair pics. So just manually add the names like 2,elemap\b_o1_1.bmp into the conf and that's it?

>> No.1705625

So I figured it out for the most part. I have all the textures and brush tips, everything works(I think) but I don't have a huge selection of brushes and stuff. It sounds confusing but everything is in every marker, water color, brush, ect. How tf did I do that?

>> No.1705658

>>1705490
yes

>>1705625
it appears on every brush type so that you can customize any brush.

>> No.1706257

>>1705658
That's the thing though, all the textures are appearing in brush, marker, water color, ect. I don't have new brushes to select from, but they're all available even in marker ect, and Ik it shouldn't be that way, right? It looks weird as hell when I use certain brushes as markers and stuff lol. I'm glad I can actually use everything though, so thanks to everyone whose helped thus far
